I remember when
you used to like
to play, puzzles and
riddles, shiny eyes
wide smiles, your arms
around my waist
when you found me
behind the barn…
I can recall, the long
minutes spent, heart
racing at the thought
of spotting you crouching
in a bush, this familiar
grin on your face telling
me “catch me if
you can!”
Now it feels like
I am playing alone…
Looking around but you’re
nowhere to be found.
Don’t call it off please,
give me a chance to
outwit you. Ten more
seconds to run back
to the warmth of these arms of yours…
