Hey there, Lovelies,
As you might have read in my latest Cyranny’s jukebox post, I recently came across a long series of very popular song covers, that Damien Robitaille, a French Canadian professional singer, has been posting online since the beginning of the pandemic (you can find him on Instagram @damienrobitaille).
The guy is talented, and that’s an understatement. And when covid-19’s first wave sent us all into lockdown, Damien decided to set an improvised studio in his kitchen and record his version of big hits (aswell as a couple of songs of his own) to entertain his fans.
I admit it took one of his songs going viral (thank you Jennifer Garner!) for me to notice the many many videos online (about 145 of them so far), but I decided to repost my favorite covers, every other day, to (hopefully) put a smile on your face just as it puts one one mine.
Tomorrow, our government will announce drastic measures, here in Québec. A lot of information has already leaked in the news, and we’re apparently heading for total lockdown with a nice curfew topping. In all honesty, the curfew wouldn’t really impact my everyday life, but, it would mean the company I work for would have to close around 8 PM, as opposed to being open until midnight. And that would mean almost certainly getting a cut back on my working hours. And therefor, a considerable cut back on my income. And that’s if we get to remain open (because the government forced the company to completely close down during the first wave).
But we’ll only know tomorrow evening, and in the meanwhile, what’s the use in worrying about what might or might not happen, right? So I’ll have a glass of red wine (unfortunately not Pinot Noir, but hey! I’m not very picky lately… LOL) and enjoy Damien’s cover of ”What a wonderful world” a couple of times. Who knows? I just might get surprised in a good way, after all.
Until then, here’s Damien…
I hope you’ll enjoy it.
