If you are a regular in The Cove, you’ve probably noticed my weekly invitation to our Skypy Friday meetings.
A little over a year and a half ago, I had the idea of hosting these chat sessions, after a couple of months of being trapped into my apartment because of you-know-what (if you don’t… Well, good for you, but where do you come from???).
If you’ve never attended a Skypy Friday, how it works is very simple. Every Friday, I just post the invitation to the call, with a link to our Skype conference ”room”. Anybody interested in having a little chat is welcome to join in, and the call usually goes on from 6 to 8 PM Eastern Time.
It took a couple of weeks to get it rolling smoothly, but we soon formed a small group of regulars. Some people joined in occasionally, and I think that we always managed to make them feel welcomed.
Of course, over the months (we had our 77th talk, last Friday), the members of our little gang got to share about eachother’s lives, and we’ve been there to support and encourage those of us that were struggling at times, and celebrate and cheer the good times too.
I get that it can be intimidating to pop in a room full of strangers… And when said strangers all know eachother, it must be even scarier to make the move. With that in mind, I could understand why nobody new had joined us in a while.
I was thinking about stopping the weekly post, and simply emailing our group with the link, before the call would take place…
And Friday, we had a surprise.
A new face popped in, unexpectedly, and I was thrilled to see Marla (after a couple of minutes adjusting to the platform – we’ve all been there), whose blog I follow. I was hoping she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable since the rest of us know eachother pretty well, but she just blended in, and in no time, it went as if she had been mingling with us for much longer.
I hope that you had as much fun as we did. And no pressure, Marla, but you’ll always be welcome to join again, when you can and you wish to!
Here’s the list of the bloggers that attended Friday night, so you can get to know them a little better;

After Marla’s lovely visit, I will definately keep posting the invitations in The Cove… It will be worth it, even just for the occasional new visitor. And if you are that person, who’s been wondering about maybe joining in, we are waiting for you!
Surprise us… We’re a lovely bunch of people!!

Keep it going. I will most certainly pop in some time.

Priceless, you say? So no appearance fee?

You are too judging on yourself. You look just fine… If anyone should know, it’d be me, right?

Well ….. that’s entirely another matter. What I was intimating is that, if you insist on the occasion being ‘priceless’ I would have to forgo the usual hefty price tag that I demand for my international speaking appearances.
Though you may have a point – I wouldn’t want to frighten all your other guests away in the same manner that I do little children
