Not quite human… – FFFC

He couldn’t help the eye rolling when he heard the shower water running.

She had been in the bathroom for a good hour, and when she turned the tap off, he could imagine Iza sitting in front of her mirror, putting on her wrapped in a towel head. She would soon come out, wearing her favorite bathrobe.

Just minutes later, she walked past him, on her way to the kitchen.

Honey, I had the weirdest dream, last night…

Stephan repressed a loud sigh.

No, you didn’t Sweetheart. You know you didn’t, because neither of us ”can” dream, remember?

He followed her to the kitchen, where she welcomed him with a pout.

Oh, Steph… Why can’t you just play along? We didn’t move here to let them find out that we are… Different, right?

Sitting with him at the table, she offered him a cup of coffee, that, as usual, he wouldn’t touch. Of course, outside their cozy home, they had to act as humanly as possible. But he didn’t see any need to make their house, an exact replica of these of the very people that hunted them down.

Well, I hope you’ll wear your happy head this evening, because I invited Mathilda over. You know the red-haired girl from work? She’s really sweet!

Stephan shook his head. This was clearly not her best idea, ever.

Alright, Hon… But remember to buy some toilet paper on your way back home. Your ”friend” just might  need to wipe her human butt.

      1. That’s a face-cloth hanger. I have one exactly like it beside my sink. The toilet paper rack is on the other wall. next to the throne, BTW; “she walked past him”
        Cute short story though. 😀

      2. Now that you mention it… You’re absolutely right! She’s going to have a hard time hanging the toilet paper roll on it 😉 Thank you for the correction, that (passed-past) was my French roots betraying me (again). Glad you enjoyed the story 🙂

      1. This corner is doing fine, thanks! We are gating much better than Miriam’s part of the world atm.
We just don’t have ready access to vaccinations yet.
I scored a job with a magazine freelance writing so I am excited about that.
All well with you and Cheri?
