  1. When I was very young, I thought I would grow up to be a farmer’s wife.

Later I had a best friend at school who introduced me to all sorts of ideas…first I was going to be a carpenter, then a sculptor (but I used to tell people I wanted to be a sculpture), and then an engineer.

As a teenager I was frustrated by people trying to push me into a medical career, finance career or legal career like some of my relatives – I told them I wanted to be a bungee jumping instructor (I didn’t really want to do that) or a canoeing instructor.

I don’t think I ever did want to be anything other than a farmer’s wife afterall! But when I got involved in construction projects as a volunteer I loved learning new skills. And in the work I did for money…I did some medical work, some accountancy, some legal secretary work, some animal care, some gardening, cooking, administration, cleaning and ironing.

    1. Wow, what a journey!! I love learning this kind of information about you guys through my quickies… I never would have imagined you as such a manual person. It is very interesting to see all these ”stages” you went through. Do you still have that dream of living on a farm? It is never too late to follow your life long aspirations 🙂
Thank you for sharing your story! *hugs*

      1. I do dream of living a life more closely connected to nature – with a little land and a little house – crops to cultivate and harvest and animals to care for.

  2. When I was about 4 or 5, I wanted to be a doctor, just like my beloved grandfather (who died when I was 6). I continued in this line of thinking until I turned 13, when I wanted to become a rock star. I came somewhat close, but it didn’t pan out. Next thing I know, I was 27 and wanted to become a veterinarian. That didn’t work out, either lol! I ended up becoming a writer, which I was all along.

    1. Funny how life can lead us left and right, but we always seem to find our calling somewhere along the road! Thank you for sharing, Barb 🙂 It is very interesting to see how your aspirations changed along the years !

    1. Interesting, Melanie… A lot of kids go for astronaut, or firefighter, or veterinarian. I think it is a great proof of your long love for books and words 🙂
