Babettes Gæstebud on its way home…

I am pretty proud of myself just now.

Normally, I would have posted some quick joyful comment on Facebook, but I try not to do that anymore… Now that I have this Cove to spread my every thoughts about Danish things, I prefer to spare my Facebook friends from all that.

But here, I can do as I please. And today was a pretty good one in my Danish learning process. A few days ago, I decided to buy copies of Babettes Gæstebud in both French and Danish versions, and try to read it. (I know, I know, I already talked about that in a previous post!)

Yesterday, I found a Danish ad on the internet, and I decided to contact the owner of the book all by myself, with my borrowed Dansk/Engelsk dictionary ready to help. I wrote a short and simple note to ask if the book was still available, and if the owner would be ready to sell it to me, even if I was in Canada.

*send*

This morning, I had an answer, that didn’t imply in any way that the person thought he was replying to a child or a retarded fellow interneter. It was agreed, upon reception of my first 100 kroner spent overseas, the book would be mine and shipped to Montréal right away.

I transfered the money and sent my coordinates…  All by myself, alt på Dansk!

One little silent victory for me! 🙂
