Yellow is a friendly color, when you are looking for interesting little things to photograph.
Because yellow things stand out on almost any background. It screams to your eyes look at me! Me! Me! Meeeeee! LoOk At Me!!! Yellow birds, yellow flowers, anything yellow catches our attention.
Yellow’s also a happy color. At least to me. For some reason, I have many Danish good memories directly related to yellow. May’s blooming rape fields. Skagen’s ageless palet of very unique yellows. Playing gul bil (”yellow car” in English – while driving around, you just look out for yellow cars, and shout gul bil! when you see one, and hit, gently, the person next to you) with a friend. On our way to Skagen…
But I was far from Vikingland when I took the above picture.
As I mentionned a couple of times in previous posts, I live just about five minutes of walk away from the office where I (used to) work.In between home and work, there is a rather large kindergarten. I can only guess that one day, one of the kids decided to give this little yellow plane a chance to do what it was meant to do; fly. Over the fence.
That day, I was lucky enough to be looking around and about and (as usual) I crouched down to try to get a good framing of the little toy on the pavement. I remember how I thought it was brilliant karma, knowing how I love to fly. Although I used to prefer purple planes… Hehehe. (Sitll miss you Wow Air)
Now any airplane would be welcome. I’m not picky color-wise anymore.
Let me get vaccinated, and open your borders. I’ll be glad to hunt yellow things anywhere in the world.
This year, I am dedicating my A to Z Challenge to revisiting 26 of my favorite Instagram pictures, and the memories that cling to them. If you’d like to get the full list of my challenge post, just click here.
