I was invited (well, not personally, but still…) to join the Fandango’s Friday Flashback!
Fandango scrolls back, every Friday, and gives a second chance to a post he had published on the same date the year before. I thought it was a great way to remember some of the stuff I did a while back, and I decided to participate…
So here it is!
Previously published on December 6th of 2016, this post is a reminder of a tragedy that happened exactly 30 years ago. Québec’s motto being ”Je me souviens” (I remember), I think it is a duty not to forget the darkest pages of history… If only not to let things like that happen ever again.
27 years ago, Québec was wounded in its history…
A disturbed man entered a College, separated men from women, and slaughtered the girls. With all the madness going around in the world, 14 deaths and 14 wounded people could seem like a minor incident. But it scarred the province deeply.
I know one one of the victims’ sister, and I feel for the families today. For the victims’ and for the killer’s. A sad day…
Here are the trailer and movie telling the story of this horrible day. The movie is in French, though. I couldn’t find a full version available in English, or with subtitles…
You can visit the original post here.
What a tragedy…even by today’s standards.

It is, indeed! Yet another display of mankind’s darker side. Very sad to know that it wasn’t the first time, nor the last…

I had not heard of that tragedy, but it must be one that could never be forgotten – it is no less chilling for not being unique.

I was in my university cafeteria when we heard about it–just stood there shocked, then scared that it could happen to us. Last night when they showed the memorial ceremony on TV, I cried. So little has changed, really.
