Look around, these
Fields of snow…
Endless and empty
It’s all I know.
Walking barefooted,
Unarmed, unwounded
Counting my steps
Slightly astounded…
I go on, and forward
I march some more,
Not feeling
My legs anymore, anyway!
I couldn’t possibly
Care any less.
I gave up hope,
High expectations, success.
For, after all
The end is near, I feel
It in my frozen bones…
Frost has sealed my lips
And I can only moan.
I fear I’ve really lost you,
Honesty,
Been searching for you
Oh! Where art thee?
I’ll keep going still,
Until I fall.
And when I make
That final call…
I’ll pull the blanket
Over my head and
Vanish, just a
Dust bunny swept under your bed…
#NovemberNotes2019 – Bones by Dustin Tebbutt
In response to November Notes Writing Challenge by Sarah Doughty of Heartstring
Walking in the snow
again
Been walking since
I don’t know when
No word from you
that ain’t good news
Forgot myself,
forgot my shoes
You played your cards
you rolled the dice
Discarded me
that just ain’t nice
Your love’s gone cold
and heaven knows
I’ve lukewarm thoughts
and frozen toes
But hoping. Hoping
now and then
That sunshine might
come back again
That snow will cease
that ice will thaw
That you will be
my love once more

*Sigh* ”Real life” has kept me from commenting some of your previous replies to my posts… I appologize for that. I know that you’d say they are of no interest, but I disagree. I feel lucky that my writing inspires you. Thank you 🙂 xx

You certainly don’t need to apologise. That’s ridiculous. My ‘real life’ is being inconsiderately and unrelentingly intrusive at the moment, too – with very little light at the end of the tunnel. One of these days I might sit down and actually write something.
