Hehehehe, yes on-time is my preference too. Otherwise, it depends if I am on the visiting or receiving end. If I am visiting someone, I try to be there a little early, but if I’m receiving guests, I prefer ”a little late” to ”way earlier” because the latter makes me a little uncomfortable.
I give folks +/- 10 time slot either way to arrive. I don’t like really early or really late arrivals. The really late ones are discourteous to their host by doing so. JMHO
This is my preference too, although I prefer people to be early rather than late, especially when I am cooking something. If they come too late, it throws the timing off of everything, and that could easily ruin a meal. If someone comes early, I usually put them to work. π
I donβt mind a LITTLE late, but over 15 minutes is just rude unless there are extreme circumstances. But I note it is always the same people who canβt manage to be on time, while the rest of us somehow figure it out… π
That’s a good point, Paula π I used to be the running-to-get-there-in-time type, now I just make sure to leave the house extra early not to have to stress about being on time π
How about on time? Precisely? I don’t mind either of the other two scenarios though, but getting to the appointment an hour early is over kill and likely to irritate the crap out of the host. So is being an hour late. Hour late? I won’t answer my danged door nor the phone and the appointment can be considered cancelled! π‘
An hour late (or early) seems rude. Especially since everybody has a cell phone now. If anything suddenly happens, there is no reason not to at least give a ring. I’d be tempted not to answer the door either π
Oh my, I know you didn’t mean to, but you set off a post ‘bomb’. Watch tomorrow’s Monday Peeve for the reason! Thanks Cyranny (great choice of word today too! It dovetailed so nicely with Jim’s Song Lyric Sunday!
So I am a total contraction on this matter.
I always arrive at appointments a few minutes early – always – my mother’s training.
If I am expecting someone and they arrive early – I panic! I am never ready. I love it when guests arrive late!!!
Oh my!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who freaks a little when guests are early π π π Well, when they used to be early, you know, back before this little pandemic. Just like you, I am never 100% ready, LOL
On-time would be my preference. I am usually that person who arrives way earlier than agreed.

I try to be on-time or early on both occasions. I guess, whatever it is, I just want to get it over with.

Showing late for dinner is definately rude… When someone works so hard to serve you a beautiful meal, the least you can do is to be on time π

I agree! That +/- 10 minutes seems like a reasonable compromise to me π

On time is best, but itβs better to be a LITTLE late than WAY too early.

I am comfortable with on time. Late starts to worry me.

Especially knowing that most people have cell phones now, so if anything happens, they should warn you right away.
