Good evening, dear Lovelies,
I hope this finds you doing well. Oh what a week it’s been, and I wish I could say it is over, but today was just day 5 of a twelve days straight stretch at work. For those of you who are regulars in The Cove, yes, I am still training the new guy, but I have a week of ”vacation” from that.
There’s been much mind gaming at the office lately. People lying, people fishing for informations instead of asking directly. People trying to turn co-workers against each other. I don’t play along, but it is a bit draining. That’s the main reason I have been so quiet. But I should be able to catch up quite a bit, during the next couple of days.
Luckily, I have colleagues with a great sense of humor, and here’s what one of them sent me the other day:
It came with a note simply saying ”Denmark??” LOL I so wish so!
Which brings me to my second piece of news… Going back to Vikingland might become something fairly easy to do sooner than later. ”Why’s that?” you might wonder. (Thank you for asking!) Well, it is still almost unbelievable to me, but…
Drumroll please!
Remember these awesome purple planes, and how I loved flying with Wow Air?? Well, I learnt today that Wow is coming back!
*Performing a happy dance in the living room, while Chéri is napping on the couch*
It is not clear what name they will be using, just yet. Some articles state that they will simply re-launch the same company (fingers crossed). Others say that the new company could be called WAB Air (as in We Are Back Air)… I don’t care. As long as I get cheap flights to Scandinavia, I AM IN!
The loss of incoming foreigners in Iceland, after Wow Air went out of business has had an important enough impact on the country’s economy to make things move. Or maybe it was my constant whining that made a difference. I tend to think the latter was more effective, but who knows for sure?
(It was me!)
Chéri has expressed the will to visit Vikingland again yesterday, and that’s really good news. We just hope that his condition will not keep him from traveling anytime soon. For now, the treatment seems to be working, and the large granulomas on his face have almost disappeared.
The only new habit we had to add to our daily routine are frequent temperature and pulse checks. Temperature to know Chéri’s natural average body temperature, to be ready to call out any bout of fever that might happen. Pulse, because he has been aware of episodes when his heart seems to run faster than usual, for no reason. We’ll probably have that checked too.
But all in all, nothing to worry about.
Talking about Chéri… A couple of weeks back, he told me while we sat together on the couch, one evening….
I have a surprise for you, coming though the mail!
Chéri is terrible with the concept of ”surprises”. He gets excited and sooner than later spills it out, yearning to give clues, which I don’t want. I like surprises, and finding out before it’s in my hands, kills the fun.
But I must admit, I understand how this one was hard to hide from me.
For no reason other than to pull a long series of Ooooohs and Aaaaaahs, he ordered a little something that came in, this morning, while I was at work.
Take a look at this:
A map of Copenhagen, made out of sheets of gold!!
(Cue to go ”Awwwww” *sigh*)
You can imagine how delighted I was when I opened this. Now I just need to get it framed and find the perfect spot to hang it up.
The perfect ending to a, well, shitty week.
How was your week? Any nice surprises in your life too? I hope you’re all headed to a most hyggelig weekend…
Good night, from Montréal!
Awesome surprise!
Ugh on your week, hate drama like that in the workplace where we all are supposed to be adults!
But very cool about you possibly being able to visit Vikingland in the near future. Fingers crossed for you. 😊

It is absolutely perfect, so very unique 🙂 And I always find it really sweet when he gives me Denmark related things, because sometimes, I am worried he’ll put his foot down and tell me I have brought enough Danish things home 😛
Yeah the working atmosphere pretty much stinks these days… I am starting to wonder if I really have a job, or if I just go to some kindergarden LOL Hopefully someone will threaten the department we’ll have to take a nap, if we’re cranky 😛
I have everything crossed until they get the first plane in the sky again… Then, I’ll start planning visit number 5 to Vikingland!! Woot woot!

Can you ever have enough Danish things? LOL!
Haha about taking naps at the workplace if people don’t straighten up and no milk and cookies for them. 😃
Hang in there! Adventure is on the way! 🙂

Wonderful news, though I must say your workplace sounds as mean-spirited as mine. 😦

Awww… I feel for you, Gorgeous. Maybe we should make a pact to get out of there and find friendlier places?

At work you always need someone to have a laugh with. Do the people who are really awful at work go home thinking everyone else is awful?

Looking at my manager, who tends to be awful with pretty much everyone… I have a feeling she goes home thinking everyone on Earth sucks, except her beloved family. I can’t imagine feeling like that about people in general.

How cool is that!?!?! Exciting news!! Watch out Denmark, here she comes again! YAY!!!
As far as the job goes, it really sucks that they have all the employees walking on eggshells. They truly suck!

Oh my, I teared up when I read the news… Denmark is definately not getting rid of me this easily 😛 I still have so much to see and do there….
I’m getting really tired of the childishness in the office, but I have a feeling it’ll come back to normal when we stop doing so much overtime. Let’s hope I am right 🙂

Yeah, all tht OT you’ve been putting in will make people stir crazy.
My old office/warehouse was like a looney bin when we had to stay for inventory. We would all start off our pleasant happy selfs, by the 5th day of working 10-12 hr shifts, we were at each others throats, by the last day which always fell on day 14. No one spoke, people fell asleep at desks, and we were all homicidal. Not pretty.😡 😠 🤬

Life always has a way to bring a smile back, when times are tougher… I hope it is kind to you too, when you’re not feeling so well 🙂
I already can’t wait to book new tickets to visit DK again. The very thought of having a chance to go back makes everything easier to go through. Denmark is definately my happy place…. 😉
