Cyra-newz!

Recently, I noticed that I was sending posts to the ”draft” file, because of a lack of time to finish them. Since they all have to do with my daily life, I couldn’t really postpone them. So I thought I’d combine them in a little news bulletin. Who knows? I might use the format again, to keep you up to date on different subjects.

Ready? Here we go…

Update on the Sparrow family:

Please forgive the blurry picture, I had to take it through a screen. But if you have very good eyes (or a great imagination) you’ll notice two heads peeking out of the bird house, and one little fellow sitting on top of it! Yes, the twins were actually triplets! I still can’t believe the three Sparrow kids fit in the small house, but I had the proof before my eyes….

On the day I took the picture, the biggets of the three brothers (who probably sat closer to the whole, and got fed more often then the other two) was taking flying lessons, and I spent quite some time watching Mrs Sparrow standing close to him with food in her beek, and slightly stepping back to force her offspring to take a quick flight to grab the snack! I think I saw his first couple of tryouts, and it was pretty amazing.

The other two brothers stayed a couple of days more, and then, one morning the chirping had ceased. The house was empty again… No more action on our balcony.

Bye bye, Sparrow family! Come back again next year…

Little work update:

You might remember that just last week, I grew some balls, walked into Booh Boss’ boss’ office, and I said ”no” to a ridiculously last minute training, they wanted me to give to the new guy that was hired last Monday.

Well, that’s not entirely true. I bargained a little. And since I had no time to get ready to give the training, and was already exhausted just doing my normal job, because of the overtime, I had agreed to cover for Booh Boss’ two weeks of vacation at the end of August… Before and after that, they had to find some other way.

BUT… I was called in the Big Boss’ office again yesterday, and I knew that was bad. I usually talk to Big Boss, one on one, once a year, when I get my evaluation. Twice within a week did give me a bad feeling. And I was right.

It so happens that for the first two weeks of August, they are in deep shit (pardon my French), and although the phrasing sounded like a question, when I was asked if I could start training on the  5th instead of the 19th, the choice of answers was reduced to ”Yes”, ”sure” and ”of course”.

Let’s just say I was less than enthusiastic, and I didn’t hide it. AT ALL. As you’ll see in my next point, I have other things to worry about right now, and I agreed through (very tightly) clenched teeth.

So I appologize in advance, August might unravel as a festival of work rants… I am sorry for that!

Any House Md fans in the room?

This was taken this morning, but it sums up how we’ve been spending a LOT of our free time the past month. I didn’t want to talk about it, and I’ll still remain a little discreet for now, but let’s say that Life has felt like a House Md episode for a couple of weeks now. I didn’t talk about it because I hoped that the team of six (for now) specialists would end up telling us that Chéri had one or two conditions that could be cured with some creme and a couple of pills.

But quite sincerely, it is not looking good. And if we are facing the diagnosis that has been mentionned, when I accompanied Chéri today, putting our finger on the source of his problems is not going to be the conclusion of all this. Much rather the beginning of a long adaptation… We’re meeting Chéri’s Gregory House tomorrow morning.

I hope she’ll have good news for us, given the circumstances. When we know what’s going on for sure, I’ll keep you posted. But if you want to try guessing in the meanwhile, I’ll just say that we are talking about something incurable, and if you did watch House Md too, it’s one of these diseases Greg loves to write on his whiteboard.

So, basically, this week, we have lost the Bird Channel. I have been shoved a job I didn’t need nor want down the throat, and I’ve had a good deal of worries for Chéri’s health.

But luckily… There are still very cool things going on and I kept the best for last…

Hello Mr Postman!

This afternoon, coming back from the hospital, I found this in my mailbox! The timing could hardly have been better… I ran upstairs with the letter, from Bee host of The Bee Writes. The first thing I noticed (of course) was this cool Dannebrog, hand drawn, and the greetings in English, French, Danish and German!! I already had a wide smile on my face… After reading the note behind it, I teared up. Isn’t it amazing, how a little letter can sometimes turn your day around?

Bee…

Thank you so very much! I love your hand made card, and it is going on my Wall of Fame Saturday, first thing when I’ll get to my desk. Not only will it make me smile everyday I work, but today, for a moment, you brushed away everything negative going on in my life, and that was very special! You Lady are a blessing to have around, and I hope anyone reading this who doesn’t know you, will pay your blog a visit. Your kindness has come to me, just when I needed it. If I may quote you, ”It made my day, and inspires me to keep going on… No matter what!”

*Big hugs* and much love! And thank you again for being the sunshine throwing rainbows in my rainy sky, today!

  1. my first thought was “please don’t let it be sarcoidosis……”then George said have you been watching House again? which annoyed and made me a bit more afraid for your cherie……I am now turning off my imagination and turning ON my heartfelt prayers and wishes that your dr. House figures it out, and can immediately resolve the issue.

    1. Thank you Irene!! We met with the diagnosis specialist this morning, and got out with three new appointments with different doctors…. Chéri has a great attitude, I know we’ll make the most out of the situation. One day at a time! xx

  2. It’s funny, Laura of “Lauravent69” babies birds just flew the coop this week too. If I had that on my porch, I’d be so sad to see them all leave. I’m such a sucker when it
    comes to birds. LOL!
Your boss sounds like a real D***! Hey, if you’ve gotta rant, rant away, Catherine. It’s better to go off then hold it all inside. We’re here for you! 😉
I’m hoping and praying that Cheri’ health is not as serious as what your leading towards. My goodess, that is so frightening. Again, You will be in my thoughts and prayers from here on!!! 🙏
Many, many (((Hugs))) of support be sent to you, Catherine. 😘

  3. Thank you for the big hugs, Beckie 🙂 I’ll use them wisely!

It was a shame to see the Sparrow family gone, but having five grown birds on the balcony all day long was getting very noisy 😛 I am sure they are having tons of fun exploring around… And I hope Mr & Mrs will be back next spring. They did seem to enjoy their stay 😉

I am done ranting about the training… I am just hoping to nail this month of hard work, so noone can grin thinking ”I knew she’d fail”. I’m better than that 😛

Chéri’s health issues are our priority for now… But as I said above, he is such a good sports about it, that I think we’ll be fine with whatever comes our way. Even after all the testing, blood tests and appointments, he is still capable of laughing about it. He’s great!

Have a most lovely evening, dear! xx
