Once again, thank you Word Porn!
Not that I can relate… I am not a fake person, but I do tend to be a bit secretive with people who aren’t close to me. So, is that pretending to be someone I am not? I don’t think so, but I guess it can look like it sometimes…
The quote made me wonder what I would have answered, though. What is the most beautiful thing about myself? That’s a good one, not easy to answer.
We (I think most people do) tend to focus on what we don’t like about ourselves… What we’d like to change. I could easily make a list of things I don’t appreciate about myself. But I took a moment, and I found a couple of things I like about me, and I thought I’d share them with you.
I don’t hold grudges. Easy to say, right? But I really am allergic to grudges. Revenge is something I don’t even think about when people are mean with me, or treat me bad. I am not the kind of girl who will remember that time you told me something that hurt me, to use it when an argument comes up. If something isn’t right, I’ll confront the person right away, or never bring it up anymore. I don’t forget, but if I don’t have a conversation about it when it happens, I forgive and keep it for myself. And even if I’m fighting with someone who brings back old stories, I’ll bite my tongue and stick to the current problem.
I am game. I am a shy person. Really shy. But for some reason, I am really game too! I enjoy being dared, and I even dare myself into doing things, to push myself outside my comfort zone. Why is it a good thing, you might wonder? I don’t have much regrets in life. I don’t have a lot of “I should have” memories. And that’s a good feeling. I say “yes” to life, generally, and although it doesn’t always turn out the way I hoped, at least, I usually can say I tried. It also makes me a fun person to be with, because if someone proposes to do something spontaneously, I am generally “in”.
I am happy with my body. That is something that took me a long time attaining. Long time. I am not particularly pretty. I don’t have a perfect body, I have scars, stretch marks and and and… But I am happy the way I am. I don’t feel the need to change anything about the way I look. I know that people who appreciate me will take me as I am, and I don’t need to impress people on the street. Life isn’t a fashion show, and I’ll put make up and dress up if I want to, not to make people turn around when I walk passed them.
There you go… Knowing me that much better!
What about you? What do you like about yourself? What makes you special? I’d really like to know… Come on, don’t be shy, share a thought or through the comment box 🙂
I like my blue eyes and blond hair. I like that I’m tall. But more than that I like that I am a child of God who loves me beyond measure!
