Santa Ana winds and stuff…

harfangblog2

I so don’t know how to start this post… I have about 10 thoughts fighting to be layed down.

So I guess I’ll start with what inspired my title! Last night a little bird brought me some sweet words directly from California! I had seen USA popping in my stats during the evening, and it had caught my eye, because America hasn’t been a regular lately…

I found out there were bears all the way down the western coast of USA, and nice ones too! Not the sneaky sauntering Denmark isbjørne, of course, since their white coat wouldn’t allow much sneakiness indeed! But they are from the same family, that is for sure! Sitting on my couch, getting ready for sleep, about 5 or 6 hours later than most of Denmark (there is still a debate about time zones, though I am pretty sure about my 6h point of view), this little birdy crashed on my lap, probably exhausted from the incredible trip from California to Montréal.

How it got to my apartment is a mystery. I figured it must have had something to do with the Santa Ana winds. The only two times I heard about Santa Ana winds, were in the romantic comedy “The Holiday” when Jack Black (*LOVE Jack Black… even if he isn’t Danish at all*) mentions it because Kate Winslet got something in her eye and in Mew’s song Zookeeper’s Boy. (*Obviously LOVE Mew… but this song especially*)

Anyway… I Googled California winds and got to know them a little better. The only weird thing (aside the fact that it would have been extra strong Santa Ana winds this year to push my fluffy friend all the way up to Canada, but then again, strange things are pretty usual to me) was that California likes its winds going to the West…. So, unless the feathery plump trying to catch it’s breath had gone all around the world, it hadn’t been helped by Santa Ana winds after all….

By whom then?

I then received another message this morning, from someone who seems pretty bipolar about friendship, really really wanting to lure me into being friends, and then denying me the right to call him one… A strange message about bears and snow and selfies and stuff.

Which inspired me to post the above picture. It depicts a snowy owl, that flew by a highway camera, you know the kind of Big Brother government thing that allows Montrealers to see the traffic jam they are about to experience before leaving the warmth of their hyggeligt homes…

It felt like a good summary of the last 24h. A bird’s selfie, on a snowy and windy background, with a look on a highway that just might take you all the way to California. If you have a full tank that is… and if you watch out for bears on the way!

Thank you for your message California 🙂
