J like Journey…

Like many of you, I love to travel. And it is one of the things I’ve missed the most during the last year.

I know people who would love it if they could get teleported to wherever they wished to visit. I wouldn’t. What would be the point of traveling, if we didn’t get to actually travel? I really enjoy long plane, train or bus rides. I like to sit back and stare out of the window for hours, watching the world run by while I wonder about the different sceneries that come to me, one after the other.

I like the anticipation that builds up, as I get closer to my destination.

As much as it stresses me, I also like short connections. When my heart rushes and I just have to find a way to make it to the next departure in time. Adrenaline flows, my blood rushes, and life really feels like an adventure (Although, LAX, you could work a couple of things out to help travelers, just sayin’).

The above picture brings back bittersweet memories. If you’ve been a part of The Cove for a while, you remember how much I appreciated this airline. Wow Air, a small Icelandic company, used to offer (VERY) cheap flights for travelers like me, that didn’t mind a little less comfort to go where they wanted to go.

I was on their first Montréal to Copenhagen flight (through Keflavik) in 2016. And in 2019, I had my tickets with them (with just a couple of weeks left to wait) for my fourth trip to Denmark, when Wow Air went bankrupt. A sad sad loss, but I still have my own wings. And when things allow it, I will fly again.

And ride trains…

And busses…

And walk miles, and miles more.

Because Life is the ultimate journey, and I am not eager at all to get to the final station.

This year, I am dedicating my A to Z Challenge to revisiting 26 of my favorite Instagram pictures, and the memories that cling to them. If you’d like to get the full list of my challenge post, just click here.

  1. Yes, yes, love to travel!! You made me think of our train ride to Vancouver! So relaxing just watching out the window at the scenery passing by as the train went down the tracks! I can’t wait to go on a train sometime again!
