My ultimate goal as a writer…

1597194471921

I remember when I read the above words for the first time.

My eyes danced down the lines, then paused and thought ”That’s it!”

Some people write, hoping to become famous, others aspire to make big money out of their words. But fame doesn’t attract me, and I know I’ll never get rich from my writing… I am not pompous enough to think that I can teach anyone anything either (other than some Danish obscure fun facts).

So why spend so much time writing?

Maybe because for me, the key to getting closer to writing something somewhat memorable, is by practicing, practicing and practicing some more…  Until someday I might achieve to write something worth lingering after my time here is over, most certainly by pure luck.

I couldn’t be pretentious enough to say that I’d want to leave a legacy of words behind, when I will give my last breath… But still. I do dream about some of my thoughts living on, long after I am done. And that someday, someone (who has once known me, or maybe not at all) will come across something I have written and think something like the above quote.

Because I do write with my heart. Even if this sometimes means being clumsy, or unsure, or a little blurry (or all three).

That might not be enough, but I still have time to try.

And I will.

blogging happened by accident to me, but over time, it has slowly started to grow inside of me. Writing sometimes takes the upeer hand these days.. sleep deprived, head aches but who cares if I can write at least one beautiful line ❤️

  3. I don’t want fame or fortune but I would love to have time to write full time. I am very reliant on the ‘winning the lottery’ retirement form to be able to start writing full time already. Otherwise my goal for retirement is to write full time. 🙂 Have an awesome day. 🙂

  4. True words indeed. I think we are alike in that I don’t look for pats on the back or a bunch of “atta-boys” for what I write. It would surprise the hell out of me if something I wrote did well. I write because the words come to me; because it’s therapeutic; because it’s fun. Hopefully others will enjoy it, but if not, I had fun putting it on paper.

We had a saying at the Rockwell plant I worked in about “atta boys”. A thousand of them got you a raise, but one “awe shit” cleaned the slate to start over. Bosses handed out way more of the latter than the former.
