What’s a song that inevitably makes you cry? Why, if I may ask?
I am not the first blogger to start a ”Question of the day” series. I used to participate to Danny’s Let me ask you a question posts regularly, but since he has almost stopped pubishing them, I thought I’d give it a go. We’ll see if I stick to it, depending on the answers I get!
In My Daughters Eyes. Martina McBride.
It could only be ANY better if it said in my children’s eyes, as I have a daughter and son whom I admire and try to be more like every day because they are such kind, empathetic, generous, amazing human beings. Most days I can barely believe they’re mine😥❣️♥️

Bridge over troubled waters. I can’t explain it, but when I hear it, especially when it gets to the “Sail on silver girl / Sail on by / Your time has come to shine / All your dreams are on their way.”. I get all teary eyed. But don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret.

I’m with you! There’s something about that song… If it doesn’t move you, I think you’re a little dead inside! Oh, and no worries, your secret is safe with me. What happens in The Cove, stays in The Cove 😉 xx

Very nice pick, especially with the background story it has for you… I can understand how emotional it is making you 🙂 I have been off the radar, busy with family matters the last month, and I am trying to catch up on a lot of things, but I will definately try to hop over to your blog to check your question of the day, Cheryl! Thank you for joining in!

I really can’t think of a song that makes me cry….but at weddings, as soon as the music plays and the bride is escorted by her dad, I cry like a big baby!

Ooooh yes, Trina! I agree, this is a powerful one… Funny because I listened to Queen music the most during my early teenager years, when I didn’t understand English all that well, and certainly didn’t know much about Life either… Still, this song already feel so emotional. Listening to it now, it carries twice the nostalgia.

https://youtu.be/v0sxMMsDgtM?t=33 Eddie Rabbit & Crytal Gayle’s “Just You and I” – It was my wedding song. We use to sing this to each other all the time. Thank goodness it wasn’t all that popular, because if I had to hear it every day… I’d probably never get out of bed.

A lot of them. I find the older I get, I’m more emotional about everything. Love songs probably the worst. Unchained Melody, maybe?

Oh, such a good one, Cheryl! I was only 12 when the movie Ghost came out, and the song already made me weep back then. I didn’t even know the yearning feelings this song were about…. Now it is all the more heart crushing to listen to it. Thank you for sharing 🙂 xx

“It’s just the thought of you…
that makes me forget to do…
all those little ordinary things…
that everyone ought to do…”
Wow – that one has caught me out a few times driving home at night!
I cry when I here “Stand By Me” by Ben E King because it was a personal song between Jack and I.
I still find that “Someone Like You” by Adele can make me feel a little weepy.
I am sure there are others, but these are the three that come to mind 🙂

I’m with the others who have said “Bridge over Troubled Water.” I tear up every time I hear it, and I’m not a tear-up kind of a guy.

Indeed a classic, and I think many of us react the same way when it plays… Great pick, Fandango!

There are manyIt’s a Bollywood movie song titled “Kal Ho na Ho” which can be loosely translated as will there be a tomorrow… The song talks about how our lives are of transient nature. The protagonist of the story is suffering from a life threatening disease- and this is what makes me cry. Though I know the song speaks truth about everything, whenever I hum the lyrics– I feel for the guy!

Is this the one?
I have never seen a Bollywood movie yet (I have to put that on my to-do list 😉 ) but I really enjoy the song, and I can understand, with the story behind it, how it makes you emotional… Thank you for sharing, Saumya xx

“The Heart Will Go On.” When I heard that one the first time, it was in the movie theater where Titanic was showing. I bawled my eyes out, and still get misty eyed if I hear it. But the top of my list for ‘songs that make me cry’ is “My Immortal” by Evanescence. I cry. Every time. It was played at my hubby’s memorial service and it reminds me of him.

Two excellent picks, Melanie! ”My Immortal” is one that never fails to make me tear up too! That song is just sooo heart wrenching! I’ve heard it played in several funerals… So sorrowful, thank you for sharing!

With or Without You 1987

U2 released this song on the 16th March 1987, and as a song l loved it, my partner at the time loved it. it was our song. However 1987 wasn’t our year. It ended fatally. I lost my fiance and my son in a car crash in November of that year.
For years l just couldn’t listen to the song at all, then years followed when it always made me cry, now l can listen to it in a much healthier way.
