And I can’t believe it took me this long to try this.
I watch my fair share of cooking tv shows. And one thing that always amazed me was to see people make fresh pasta from scratch for one hour challenges! I mean, it does look easy, but as much as I am confident in my cooking skills, making fresh pasta seemed totally out of my league!
And last Christmas, my parents offered me whole pasta kit. Semi professional rolling mill and all the gadgets that come with it.
So tonight, I rolled up my sleeves, and I decided to try to make spaghetti. First I had to mix and work the pasta dough. Surprisingly, it went pretty well, and after ten minutes of kneading, I left my dough to sit for half an hour…
I know I am biased, but I think it looks pretty dang good!
I then found out that the company had not considered the idea of including a guide with my 101 pasta thingies. I cheated, and went on Youtube to watch a short tutorial, and then put the pieces together, and started working.
First handful of homemade spaghetti!
I must say that, from there, my confidence got a big boost. I kept going and sooner than later….
Okie, there is still a chance that my first attempt won’t be super tasty. But hey! Practice makes perfect, and this is not the last time I make pasta. That’s for sure!
Here’s to trying new things! Yay me!
What’s one thing you thought you’d never manage to do… Until you tried it, and found out you were absolutely capable?
