“Good” is perhaps too black and white a term for pain. Pain serves as an alarm to indicate something is wrong – that works both physically and emotionally. It is not pleasant, in the same way that a burglar alarm is not pleasant as it disturbs the peace of the neighbourhood with a loud noise. But it is there to indicate something needs to be addressed, there is an injury, a break, a problem that needs attention.
I totally agree. And just like a fire, or security system alarm, I think that we must do something about it, as soon as possible, otherwise, the annoying warning will just keep going like the Energizer bunny.
Pain is life’s way of warning people to get help. Some children are born incapable of suffering and that is a major burden. Damage is still done, still leads to nasty consequences, but there is no warning ever available .
Exactly. We just have to think about the people who don’t experience any physical pain… They have to be insanely cautious not to get injured (and can’t say when they actually do). I sure wouldn’t want to live with that constant worry that I might have a broken bone without even being aware of it.
We certainly wouldn’t… Unless we’d be on a constant lookout for harmful things. I don’t have time to worry about what could possibly hurt me. I’ll let my brain tell me… Many thanks to it!
I agree with what’s been said already about physical pain being a warning sign. Other than that, well, there may be some higher spiritual meaning to suffering, but that doesn’t make it a good thing.
I agree with what has already been said in the above comments. I also feel that we have been conditioned to approach pain with fear and try to avert it at any cost, instead of thinking about it as the “alarm system” necessary for survival and moving forward.
Maybe not exactly good – more like needed, necessary or helpful!! A little bit of pain steers us away from hurtful things and gives us respect and necessary fear for things that may harm us. 😊💕🌹

People who lack the capacity to feel pain generally don’t live long.

Hehehehehe Literaly speaking, I agree. But I think that pain is sometimes useful, to force us to get out of harmful situations 😉

Not in and of itself, only as a signal to fix a problem or get help.

We wouldn’t survive long without it.
