I did that with my TV remote. The hatch on the back of the thing where the batteries nest broke and it kept sliding open and falling off. Clear mailing tape rules! 😀
I think that batteries covers are a classic 😛 We have a remote control here that doesn’t even have the plastic cover anymore. We just tape the back of the remote, and change the tape when we change the batteries LOL
It’s probably not that odd nor strange to use it as a temporary (or permanent) ‘car fixer’. I used it one summer to keep my side view mirror attached to the car (not Baby). I was at the bank and got too close to those damned post thingies which I’m uncertain of the use of. Watched the mirror peel right off, and dangle there by wires. 😳😨😰😭 Good old duct tape to the rescue!! I’ve used it or had it used on engines and hoses and to keep cardboard in place when a window got broken, and to keep the tail light ON the car…etc. Oh and the head liner inside my vintage 72 Monte Carlo when I had that. It was threatening to fall off and kept spreading this nasty dust all over everything. Good ol’ duct tape!! (Say! I ❤ this question so much, that I'm asking for permission to use it on an upcoming SYW!!
OMG!! I asked the question, because I was thinking about a roadtrip I did with my boyfriend and my brother. We had broken a side view mirror just days before leaving Québec, and I duct taped the new one on for the trip. When we crossed the border in Detroit, the custom agents pulled us aside and searched E-VE-RY-THING… But the broken mirror. Which was very funny, because it would have been a great hiding place for drugs or anything illegal. I guess I had done a good job LOL
And, of course Melanie, you can use the question… Always a pleasure to share 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think that a lot of people just go and throw away anything slightly damaged. I’m with you, Bee 🙂 If a little bit of tape will keep it working, why replace it??
LOL I know… My crazy brain still wonder silly things (like ”all-the-time”), I usually try to keep my questions as serious as I can, but this one kept bugging me this morning… Mouahahahaha And just a tip, if you need to fix that arm again and need something stronger than duct tape. Check out Gorilla Tape. Black, AND heavy duty!
A folder, a bookbag, book covers, an strapless bra that wouldn’t work right as I was getting dressed for the wedding, a shoe, and a vacuum cleaner. I LOVE duct tape lol
After I changed the battery in my car key fob, it kept opening and spilling its guts on the street. It is now taped together with clear mailing tape!

Great!! 😀 It will ‘air’ Monday because I have a lot of ‘commenter’s questions’ and I guess that means it’s time for one of those SYW. Thank you! 🥰

I am not sure if its impressive but our old mobile charger cable is held together by tape for several years now and works perfectly fine 👌

Same here… I get really creative with tape when things break 😉

I taped a lamp cord to the wall to help straighten it out. 🤣
