By the look on the faces of the owners….I think a china jug I picked up by the handle with my right hand (and the handle proceeded to fall off but I still caught the rest of the jug in my left hand) was expensive! They did not say how much, but they did tease me a little, that if I was going to break anything it would be the most precious of their antiques.
What was the point of it even having a handle if it was just going to break off the moment you used it?
Oooooooh… You must have felt so bad at the moment! It reminds me of a time, about 20 years ago, when I spent a couple of days in a convalescent home after a surgery. The nurse that was taking care of me rented a room in her own house for people like me that needed some caring for a short period of time.
One evening, I was in the bathroom, and I washed my hands under hot water. Then I turned to cold water to fill my bottle, and the sink (which was made out of glass) badly cracked. I later on learnt that it was a very fancy (and expensive) sink imported from Italy.
I felt horrible (the lady really didn’t want me to) but as you said: why make a sink if it can’t stand such a switch of temperature?
Haha LOL, well, technically indeed it wasn’t my own. It was mine to use, but the social security administration had paid for it. I think they sensed something was off, since after this they did pay for one more computer but with the provision that I (or my parents) pay for any repairs. Like I said, this was in 2003. Shortly after that, computers were no longer paid for by social security or health insurance for disabled people, since they were so commonplace that they reasoned they aren’t an exceptional expense anymore.
Oh wow! That must have felt really bad, when the accident happened. Art pieces are so unique, ruining one must be devastating. I’m really glad for you that you could get it fixed!! 🙂
Someone else’s car. The accident wasn’t my fault, but I still feel twinges of guilt over it. Never have asked to borrow a car from someone ever since either.
I’ve never been much of a car-borrower for that exact reason. I have very close relationship with Murphy (the Law guy) and I probably would have totalled the vehicule LOL

Referring only to physical things, a computer in 2003. No-one ever found out it was my own fault though.

And I am guessing that it wasn’t your own computer 😉 No worries, your secret is safe with me, hehehehehehe.

I did not actually “break” but had an “accident” with a a 19th Century landscape oil painting. It ripped but I did get it repaired.
