I feel like you, Astrid. My immediate family (my parents, my little brother and I) have lived far away from my grand parents and aunts and uncles for so long, that I never felt that close bond to them… I love them, but I don’t feel as connected to them as a lot of people with their extended families. And I am quite ok with that.
My immediate family: our son and daughter and my husband, we are very close. All of my other relatives live in Europe or England so not so close .But we do all communicate. So close enough
Same thing in my family. My parents created a really tight four people family. We love our extended family, but as long as the four of us are together, everything else is fine. xx
No. It’s a Utah thing I think. Which sounds ironic, but it’s not. A lot of families are close-knit and fond of each other’s company, but I tend to find that those who came from the original settlers here are less demonstrative and a lot more reserved. That doesn’t lend itself to a tightly knit family IMHO. Of course, that’s a generalization and I realize there are all sorts of families here. Mine was just one of the unlucky ones maybe. The mental health issues that run through don’t help either.
Thankfully they are.
