K like Kleptomania …

For some reason, I had some trouble finding a word that would fit one of my Instagram pictures.

Thank you, anonymous seagull, for just crashing Chéri and my lives, on that very special day spent in Bondi, Australia. You gave me my K, without even knowing it.

When this picture was taken, we were in one of Sydney’s best known subburbs, but not for the usual reasons. Most people visit Bondi for its (AMAZING) beach, and the coolness of the area. We had signed in for a cooking session to help Our Big Kitchen. But of course, we would have been silly not to enjoy the surfer vibe (which, I must confess, I really loved). So we did spend some time on the beach, and dipped our toes in the water. And just before heading to Our Big Kitchen, we stopped by a little pub to fill our tummies before cooking for the less blessed.

I had a (Danish) blue cheese salad, and Chéri a burger and French fries. These are amazing! He said.

The seagull next table seemed to agree.

Waiters were a little bit late to pick up (almost) empty plates. A seagull’s regal. The bird swallowed a potato strip. And another…

And then I caught the picture.

It might not be stealing, when the loot is up for the taking…

But I did need a kleptomaniac, and it is easy to hit on a seagull.

This year, I am dedicating my A to Z Challenge to revisiting 26 of my favorite Instagram pictures, and the memories that cling to them. If you’d like to get the full list of my challenge post, just click here.

  1. The seagulls at the resort where my parents had a cottage were always fearless in their quest for food. I’ve seen them wrestle open sandwich bags and French fry boxes when the owners of these weren’t looking!
