Ramblings…

large

I never understood.

I doubt it was due to a lack of cleverness on my behalf. I had been naive, for sure, but not as much as people would have thought.

Never had I wanted this. And come to think of it, that’s probably what attracted you like a moth to a flame… The challenge. You just wanted what you couldn’t have, and woudn’t take no for an answer.

I wasn’t playing hard to get. I just wasn’t there for the taking. But it made no difference to you, you just needed to see that smitten look in my eyes, someday. You worked hard, I’ll give you that, to find all the fine cracks in my armor. And you leaked yourself, drop by drop, under my shield. Under my skin.

From an unlikely encounter, you became a friend. And then, what? Your game stepped up a level… With force efforts, and I am guessing much fun too, you lured me into loving you. And made me believe it was both ways.

But it never was… Was it?

You only had one goal. To win.

And when I finally opened up, offering all my vulnerability, the look in your eyes changed, suddenly.

You picked up your coat, and never looked back.

And here I am… I could wish to never hear from you again. But even if you were acting up, I still believe I’ve seen the good side of you.

And I am counting on the idea that you’ll stay alive. So we can meet again someday, and you’ll prove me right.

Maybe.

  1. More to do with the picture than the prose ….

    ‘I don’t really know you
    But I know your style
    I don’t really like you
    But I like your smile
    I’m never really looking
    But I see you everyday
    I never really listen
    But I hear you anyway

What is this thing about you?
    What is this strange appeal?
    I’ve never really touched you
I don’t know how you feel
But you’re feeling free and floating
    Flying faultless, free from sin
    There’s a butterfly within you
And it’s painted on your skin.’

  2. Version 2

    I don’t really know you
    But I recognise your style
    I don’t really like you
And I’m not flattered by your smile
Don’t think that I am looking
    When I see you everyday
Please don’t think that I am listening
    If I hear you anyway

I’ve never really talked to you
    I’ve not heard a word you’ve said
Please don’t think that thoughts about you
    Interrupt my time in bed
Don’t imagine that I think of you
    When taking off my jeans
Don’t think that I can’t sleep at night
Or that you interrupt my dreams

So what is this thing about you?
So what is this strange appeal?
You know I’ve never really touched you
So I don’t know how you feel
But you’re feeling free and floating
    Flying faultless, free from sin
    There’s a butterfly within you
And it’s painted on your skin.
