    1. I agree, mental pain is hard to imagine and understand for people who never experienced it…. The world would definately be a better place if some people had the gift of healing mental pain πŸ™‚

  1. I have to say mental because it is so hard to understand and deal with vs. Physical pain.

Physical pain we can run a test to check it out, point to where it is, take a shot, pill, hot bath or other things to releave it or make it go away all together.

With mental things it is hard to tell what medication may work or worse what one may make things worse. And there are so many different views on mental illness even between providers it can be hard to get the right treatments. A lot of other things even physical pains can be caused by mental problems.

    1. I agree… I have suffered from both and generally, physical pain is so much easier to get recognized by professionals and get treatment for. It’s not alway true, of course, but I think that mental pain is more complicated in general…

  2. I have had some excruciating physical pain on some occasions in my life (not chronic just some emergency situations) and to have the ability to ease that for someone else would be a wonderful gift to have.

    1. I am glad you picked physical pain… I had a feeling most people would pick mental pain, but we tend to forget that some people have physical pain the doctors understand, but can’t ease. And that must be terribly frustrating!

      1. Hahaha! Sorry, in my line of work, we talk in abbreviations all the time. Phys-dys stands for physical-dysfunction. As OT students, we are trained on mental health treatment, and some OT’s choose to go that route as their career path. I was always more interested in physical rehabilitation though.
