If you are an usual of The Cove, you might know about the concept of “hygge”. You also are familiar with it if you have Viking blood, or have once visited Denmark.
If you don’t fit any of those categories, rest assured. I never run tired of talking about Denmark, or anything Danish!
“Hygge”, to make a long story short, is the art of coziness. To give a room a good share of “hygge”, you just have to use warm lighting, cushions, candles, comfy blankets… “Hygge” is also about sharing quality time over a good cup of coffee or hot chocolate. It is all about taking your time, enjoying yourself and feeling well…
A lot of Danish words and expressions come from “hygge”, like hyggekrog. A hyggekrog is a corner of your home where you feel particularly comfortable.
As soon as I set foot in the last apartment we rented before the flight back to Montréal, I knew this would make the perfect hyggekrog!
Of course, I am out early in the morning, and come back only for dinner… But most of my time “home” is spent sitting by this window, my feet resting on the heater, leaning against a comfy cushion, enjoying the view and the cocoon-like feeling.
My own little hyggekrog, Copenhagen style.
So good to hear, that you are enjoying Denmark 😀
