About

I received complaints advices regarding this page…

It seems some people want to know more about me, so I made a list of relevent facts that will help you understand the author of all the shenanigans you are about to read. Special you, you’ll probably be disapointed, since you are already aware of most (if not all) of it, but I’ll try to surprise you another time, if you still like surprises that is…

  1. I LOVE Denmark. If you think you know someone who loves Denmark more than me, please let me know… I’d like to battle him/her in any kind of way (except physically… yeah, meh… I’m kind of a wuss)
  2. If you can’t stand the use of the word “dang”, you’re in the wrong place…. Get out! Dang you!!
  3. There will be some occasional French posts… French being my mother tongue. Feel free to skip… They don’t make more sense than the English ones, especially after going through Googgle Translate!
  4. Did I mention my interest in Denmark? No? I LOOOVE Denmark, if Denmark was a man, I’d marry him. But to my knowledge, it is not legal yet to marry a country. Not just yet…
  5. I am training to become a Valkyrie. So be nice in your comments, or don’t leave any… You wouldn’t want me to come and get your soul when my training’s over, would you?
  6. Denmark rules! (that’s it!)
  7. I don’t trust the Internets…. So since you found me here, you might want to consider not trusting everything you read!
  8. You need a Google browser open and ready to go if you want to experience my blog to the fullest… Yeah, I’m interactive like that! Sometimes, I go the easy way and give up a link, but most of the time, I don’t…  It’s called “Google with me!”

Ok, I think this should be enough to start with…

I hope you enjoy your visit, and leave me a little note on your way out!

Calins,

Cyranny xx

Update

Since the beginning of this blogging adventure, a lot has happened. I’ve made friends, grown a pool of readers I wouldn’t even have dreamed of when I clicked on that “submit” button back in November 2015, and my writing has evolved with my various moods.

I have been to Denmark too! Not once, not twice but three glorious times! Yes, this lucky girl has set foot in Vikingland in May 2016, February 2017 and September of the same year! That’s a lot of exclamation points, you might think? I agree, but it is just so exciting to snuggle with those memories, and to think about going back. Because hey! If I could go thrice, why not once more??

If you are a regular of The Cove, and have been around for a while, Thank you! Every read, every “like” and every comment makes a difference, and keeps me going. I am grateful for your attention, and for the precious time you decide to spend with me.

If you are new to The Cove, Warmest welcome! I hope you’ll find something to your liking in here, and that you’ll leave with a smile. I didn’t create this blog to teach anything, or to inspire… It is just a little place to sit back, relax and have fun! Don’t hesitate to leave me a little note if you are visiting. I love to mingle. Hop in the conversation, no need to be shy!

Hugs from Freezingland!

Cyranny xx

P.S. Dear Ninny, although you won’t read this, know that without you, The Cove wouldn’t be what it is today, and I am thankful for every pat in the back, and every encouragement along the way… I wish you were still here to see how things are going and to share all the good things coming my way. I hope you’re doing great, and that every now and then, you still have a thought for me… I miss you. Everyday. Hun. xx

  1. Where did the French Blog go? I was really impressed, even though I didn’t understand one word of it! OK there was something about Pythagoras and his Theorem, but that might have been a French-Quebec Idiom of some sort. Kind of like “Der er ingen ko på isen”. I can’t believe, you are beginning to delete your blogs after having written and publishing them, Gloriosky, what a concept… I might just try doing that myself. End of statement on Large Screen at Football-Hockey Game….

  2. I really think you should work on your “about” page. Give the people what they want, even if they don’t know what that is! Tell them you are 38½, just for the heck of it. Explore the outer edges of life. Never take no for a yes. Smile when someone compliments you, like when I do! Put your cat as your cover photo. Hug a Canadian even though it isn’t National Hugging Day. Laugh when it rains, and sing when it snows. Don’t trust people who leave long, incoherent messages as a reply. Remove those commenters who have the most comments.

  3. It’s getting better, but still a bit on the Denmark-Yea side. I think you should think “tree” branch out, and watch out for lightning, lyn in Danish. You could call yourself, Lynet! That is also the name of a Roller Coaster at a park called Fårup Sommerland. Lynet II – the sequel, at a branch near you. Wowowow that sounds like a blog, but I might just be wrong! Been there before, you know? Not dangerous you say????

  4. I guess, I have to like my own comment, if no one else does! After I’ve written this to that, then I might have to comment on my comment, then like it once again. You see, if nobody stops me then I might just have to tell about your own fantasy family, which might not be a good thing to do, but then I have been wrong before!

      1. Is that like double chocolate ice cream? They call that “is” in Danish. Double chocolate is. No not is like he is, but “is”! Understand? Double liked, Double “Is”, and Double Sorry. I like it like that.

  5. Might be getting a bit too longish? What about Bikini Pictures? I’d read it every day, if I knew there were Bikini Pictures on your “About” page. Perhaps a short “About” page with suggested Bikini pictures. It’s better to keep them guessing, you know!

I’ve visited your Blog quickly, it looks interesting, I’ll make sure to pay you a visit again to read some more 🙂

I hope you’ll always feel welcome around here!

P.S. Denmark does rule… BIG TIME lol

      1. What it is like in Denmark? I have been there as a. child but can’t remember specifically. And why do I picture it like a giant IKEA store? Is it like a giant ILEA store or do they still have old stuff in Denmark? (I am hoping for the old stuff.)

      2. Well, Little Shepherd Girl, do you have time for coffee? Hihihihi… I would have a looooot to say on the subject, but I suspect you have a life 😉

You can check out my Travel Blog, “The Turtle’s Journey” if you’d like 🙂 It will give you a little idea of the trip I made in May (still have a lot to add, but since I’ve started planning my new trip, I’ve put the blog on the backburner… more to come soon)

        https://cyrannyblog.wordpress.com/

As for the IKEA question… I’d say that the places I have been to are a happy mix of “old stuff”, as you said, and very modern design. And, in general, I that Danes really master the art of making rooms cosy and inviting… Hygge might just be a trandy, fashion thing for the rest of the world lately, but you can feel it’s in the roots of Denmark!

I hope to see you again soon 🙂 xx

I like letting myself completely loose in the Cove… Because “real life” sometimes requires a little dimming.

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay, and I hope you’ll visit again soon!

    1. Good evening Irene!

First of all thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed your first visit to the Cove 🙂

It would be very long an complicated to explain why I fell in love with the country, but for years, I just developped an obsession about Denmark.

At first it was mostly because of Danish cinema, music and places I wanted to visit (like Mønsklint, Skagen…) Then I made friends in Denmark, and I really appreciated the Danish mentality, and the culture in general…

I also started learning Danish, which is quite a challenge, but I love the sound of it!

I’ve never been one that follows the crowd, so I guess the fact that it is not usual to be interested in Denmark, opposed to all the people here who dream about France, Italy or England added to it.

Where did you live in Denmark, if I may ask?

I hope to see you around again 🙂

P.S. just in case you’d be interested, I have a second blog, just about my 3 weeks in Denmark… https://cyrannyblog.wordpress.com

      1. Good morning, it is just around 5 am here.
I have lived in many places in Denmark, but before I left, I lived at North Fyn.
The mentality in Denmark are different, up to where you are in the country.
Danish language are very difficult to learn, so patience…. I have been a teacher in Danish, so I really know.
I will visit your other blog.

    1. Oh my Dang Feckin’ goodness!!! (Oooops, was the mic on??)

Here I am, trying to write a story to keep my fingers busy, watching my hockey team getting humiliated (Yeah 10-0, I call that humiliation!) and minding my own business… And what pops in my inbox?? This incredibly honoring yet useless AwEsOmE Award!!!!

      Ok, ok *calming down, breathing*

*cough cough!* I would like to thank the Academy, because it seems like a safe choice in most speaches I’ve heard. Mom and Dad, for playing doctor almost 40 years ago, therefore giving me the chance to be here and now. My little brother, who most certainly developed my creativy at a young age, because you can get bored at wishing he got hit by a car everytime he made me mad (thank God, now I’ve learned to love him dearly!) – See how I got to thank God so subtely?? – Sincere thanks to all the boys who’ve been nice to me to get to my bestfriend, making me retrieve in a fantasy world of romance… And special thanks to said best friend who never refused to read my chicklit stories, before her dates with said guys! Warm thanks to the people who rolled their eyes at my unsual sense of humor, pushing me to find a place to secretly write whatever came to my mind! And God (thanks again!) knows there is a lot going on in there!! Thanks to Chéri, who never visited the Cove (he says it he considers it my private journal, I think he has enough of my shenanigans live, he couldn’t handle my virtual insanities on top of it!) Thanks to WP, for not imposing a maximum of characters, especially for comments! Thanks to you, loveliest of Lovelies, for your growing support and for not commenting, just letting the day go by, and hope for the better, when my craziness poors on the Internets! Thank you (I won’t name names, or nicknames, but you know who you are) for the TSUNAMI of appreciation and love I received these past few days… I sincerely don’t know where that comes from, but I welcome it more than gladly!

And thank YOU, gorgeous! Yeah you, with the three pairs of glasses! Thank you for making my post look useless once we’ve finished commenting them! Thank you for making me like a fool at work, when I start giggling at my desk picturing Honey Booboo’s stepfather spreading Nutella on mousetraps and warning the kids about licking them clean! (ok, my co-workers are used to my looney side, but still, Booh Boss sometimes frowns his unique eyebrow when I disturb others with my snorting!) Thank you for this immensely flattering nomination, especially knowing that I join great bloggers like Linda in the Pantheon of the Awesome Useless Award community!

And last but not least… Thank you crazy mind of mine! You’re absolutely uncontrolable, often too intense, a bit scary at times… We don’t always get along very well, but what can I say? We’re a whole, and I think I must be using you in a good way, if I am holding this trophee in my hands!

Great Madame Suze, I am going to create a new page to post my awards, as soon as I find the way to do it 😛 And this one will get dusted regularly, to keep its shine!

Thank you! (ok, ok… I hear the music playing…)

      (have I overdone it??)

  9. Your about page is wonderful. Showing everyone who you are and what you like is the whole purpose of a personal blog. It’s not about what others suggest, its more about what you want. You have a nice design and good content. Raise a glass for me in Denmark 🍻.

  10. I don’t know about your about page. It should be made into a Comment, comment page, or a phantom blog page, with people crossing their fingers and their toes, and wishing you well and well, this is the last comment from me on your about about page, unless an evil ice princess takes over your about, about about page and sends her icy hilsen from Denmark to the warm and balmy Montréal. Don’t worry, I’m about, about, about finished with this comment. Like now!

  12. Yes Cyranny, I have time for coffee because I guess what own a kaffee haus dedicated to the stuff, all served in French presses, and GERMANY (my favorite country obsession.)

Though my business is all old decor, my home is Old World with strategically placed modern accents ( like industrial shelves filled with books). I already feel at home in your blog as well.

That is why the IKEA question came into play and get this – so cool – my daughter and I happen to be going to a mega IKEA in DC this Sunday (she is decorating her place.) I will have to send her links to your travel blog for inspiration.

Also your bf reminds very much of my own, although mine does not comment quite as much on my blog (to protect the innocent?)

And finally, I’d just like to add that I appreciate the advise to ignore suggestions on “correcting” or “improving” one’s blog. I recently got advice to shorten my posts to market them to more readers (and remove all of the more ingenious elements) MUHAHAHAHAAAAA as if I cared if my blog was palatable to the “general” populace. (Isn’t that advice like saying “I cannot appreciate what you have to say or it triggered me in some way, so change who you are, dumb it down, and make it more user friendly like Facebook so more people will “like” you”?)

Your Cove looks like a lovely place to visit. I’ll drop by more often if that’s alright with you. I had a Danish friend called Vibeke a long time ago. And I can say her name with a Danish accent. Does that count? Je suis ravie d’avoir fait ta connaissance. A très bientôt!

I am glad you enjoyed your first visit, and I’ll make sure to check out your own blog! If you ever get home sick, I can suggest you a Scottish blogger I know 😉 He’s a sweetheart!

      A très très bientôt! 🙂

P.S. funny indeed how life works… I saw the name Vibeke this morning, while reading about the story of king Christian IV (of Denmark, of course :P) and here you are, talking about your friend… It is such a small world after all 😉

I have visited five times, and could easily be happy living there permanently, but then I have my family here……
As for the Challenge, I wonder if we could challenge all the Danskophiles to write a couple of posts about Denmark, and then link up. “Favourite place, wildest experience, most scenic spot, best food experience, or just why I like Denmark”? What do you think? Is it a good idea?
