Today, something really weird happened.
After a long day at work, I was chilling on the couch, doing some random researches on my tablet, minding my own business.
I won’t go through the details of my research, that would be a bit embarassing, but let’s just say I was inquiring about serial killer neighbours, and the impacts on society at large. That makes sense, right?
So, fingers surfing on the WWW wave, trying to get useful information. AndΒ suddenly, I fell upon the province’s coroner’s bureau webpage. And it read ”do you know these people?” Followed a list of people who (from what I read) died, and never got ”claimed” by any family member.
And my curiousity turned on. What if I knew one of these people?? So I started scrolling down the list. Scrolling, and scrolling and scrolling.
Suddenly, I stopped. There lay the name of a man sharing my surname. I was shocked. To give you an idea, our family tree probably looks more like a bonzai that hasn’t been watered in years. If we share a family name, we’reΒ family. NO DOUBT.
I texted Little Bro to let him know we had an unclaimed family member at the coroner’s office. Well, certainly not in his office, but I fell compelled to claim the flesh from my flesh. And not-so-surprisingly Little Bro agreed that we should investigate the case.
And so shall we.
Because it just feels wrong that a family member, even unknown, shoud end up as an anomymous Joe-blow.
Noone should end up in the ”lost and found” bin.
No one.
I hope you figure it out Cyranny! I agree, no one should be on the lost and found heap!

We’ll sure try our best, and I have a feeling it won’t be a very long investigation, with today’s available research tools. I’ll make sure to post the results as soon as we find the link between us and this poor not-so-old man!

I knew of a woman who was not claimed by her husband or children and she had no other relatives that I was aware of?
I felt sad for her.

That IS terribly sad, Wayne. I mean, my presumed relative was a single man, and he might not have had siblings… But when you are married and have children?? How can you not get claimed?

yes,I think that is one of the saddest things I’ve ever heard Cyranny.
I believe she sowed the seeds of discontent when she was younger. Those seeds found purchase produced a bitter harvest for her.

That sure is one hell of way to find a relative…

I couldn’t agree more. This troubles me more than I would have thought. Given that there are probably no more than 30 or (let’s go big) 50 men and women sharing my surname in a population of a little over 8,000,000 people, I feel kind of guilty about not knowing him.

I think your Serial Killer research sounds interesting, too.

Hahahahahahahah they are still very active, Venus. And soon our garbage disposing will go from once a week to once every two weeks (which is absolutely crazy if you ask me). The only silverlining I’ve found for that bad news, is that I can’t wait to see the pile of trash across the street. I have only one word: Epic! LOOOL

I should follow in your footsteps, maybe I have some family members in the US I don’t know about that in the lost and found. πππ What a way to find family.
