If you forgot your wallet on the counter of your local grocery store, what do you think would be the odds of getting it back without anything being taken from it?
I left my purse on a pavement once. I had been sitting on the curb to change my steel toe-capped boots (I had been on a construction project) and put on some trainers to drive back home (about three hours away). I only realized it was missing when I reached home. I thought I had lost it forever, but i was found by two JWs and handed into the local police station.
A friend of mine lost her purse at a concert. But again, someone honest had found it and handed it to a steward.
I once walked up to a cash machine and there was about £250 hanging out of the machine. There was a chap behind me waiting to use the machine, but I made him wait while I called 101 to ask what I should do. An older lady came running back to the machine while I was on the phone and she was so grateful her money was still there.
All of these events remind me that there are plenty of good people who do what is right – because they love goodness and they love people. I hope if I leave my purse at the supermarket – good people find it.
I have returned substantial amounts of money when I was given too much at the bank drive-through, when an absent-minded clerk put my check into the bag with the stuff I’d purchased, when I got home from the grocery store and found items in my bag that I had not paid for (left on the counter from the previous shopper), etc. … so if I believed in karma, I’d have to think it would serve me well if the tables were turned.
Here they probably come along and bring it. County Leitrim in Ireland is absolutely incredible!

I actually think I’d get it back intact in this situation…

I’m pretty sure I would get it back. Happened to me with a cell phone and all was returned intact. Helps to shop at the same market regularly.

I believe I would get it back intact. Someone would turn it into store security.

I think there are a lot more good people out there than what we think, but I would still be very nervous if I did that.

So would I. I’d just have to hope that the first person to find it was someone with a good heart, or at least a conscience. 🙂
