Well that’s a slippery slope. Freedom of speech is a right in American society, but I think there should be limits. Hatred, inciting violence, that sort of thing shouldn’t be part of it.
there already ARE limits to what kinds of speech are constitutionally protected. incitement to violence, hate speech are just two examples of what is NOT protected.
Yes. These days freedom of speech still exists but it’s been severely curtailed. But then there are a lot more morons taking that privilege for granted too IMHO. So I suppose somebody had to set some rules or be overwhelmed with everyone blatting on about something they might not understand in the first place (ex: men deciding that they can tell women in their area what do with their bodies). The sound bite and the quickie excuse for what passes as news these days have done a lot of damage.
I believe there should be more! If people in other countries spoke about their King the way we do our President, they could get killed. Our U.S. President deserves our respect, no matter Who he/she is.
Yes, the Supreme Court has outlined that freedom of speech can be curtailed in a few limited situations, mainly hate speech – inciting violence i.e. yelling fire in a theater.
Yes, we shouldn’t hurt anyone or make them feel uncomfortable

Yes, but many either don’t know that, or they don’t care. And unfortunately, this often isn’t enforced.

Yes, there is a limit. Feel free to say something over those limits, but don’t be surprised when there are consequences.

absolutely. One can never shout fire when there isn’t one.. speech that is hateful or injurious is NOT protected speech.

Yes – but who says what is acceptable and what is not is the question.
