Dear Lovelies,

I usually don’t talk about my birthday, because you people have much more important things to think about. But this year being special on every level, I thought I would make an exception.

So yes, it is my birthday today.

Last year, I was the last person in my family to have a proper birthday celebration. It almost seems unreal that there were eight of us, at the restaurant, unmasked and sharing dishes as if we were undestroyable. (Oh… silly, careless times…)

I had enough time (12 months) to prepare for a far more basic celebration, this year. My expectations were at their lowest, which meant that anything could make my day.

And Life is good. Even in covid times!

Ok, I woke up to the sound of some loud hammering downstairs, which is not so happy-birthday-ish, but then I started receiving lovely messages from family members, friends and co-workers, which was heart warming. I spent all morning wrapped in my favorite blanket.

I was lucky enough that our government re-opened movie theaters recently. AND, one of my favorite Montréal theaters was presenting Mads Mikkelsen’s latest Danish movie. Needless to say that I was dying to go, but I had doubts regarding the health risks. But Chéri being the sweetest, we went anyway.

OMG! It was sooooo nice to sit in the theater, watching the movie, not thinking about anything else. I laughed, I cried. I loved every minute of the film. (Druk, if you get a chance to see it, do!)

We went back home and ordered our dinner from a new Asian restaurant which was amazing (two thumbs up for the AmAzInG Pho soup!)  And then my brother showed up to my door, to deliver his present. Little Bro that I hadn’t seen in person since last October.

Cherry on top.

Which brings me to my invitation…

Every Friday (I know, I know… It used to be on Sundays) I host an online little meeting called Skyppy Friday. Since my dear friend, the Fabulous Trina from Itsgoodtobecrazysometimes celebrated her birthday on the 2nd, and mine was today, I thought that we should throw a party tomorrow, and gather together to have a whole lot of fun! I know that our usual gang will join in. So I’m calling out to all of you who once thought about joining in, but didn’t dare…

It is a lot of fun meeting live! It is… So why don’t you find your best birthday hat, and dare to join in? For Trina, and for me. You don’t need to have a lot to say, just bring your good humor with you and click on the 40th link to our weekly gathering.

There will be cake, and candles to blow… And if you’ve been reading me for a while and join the meeting, I might tear up. (that’s worth the trouble, right??)

    I tell myself every week to try to make it to your Skypy session and every week, I work past it. I’ll see if I can make it tomorrow. If not, have fun at your party.

      2. I agree… It felt so good to close my work computer, knowing I wouldn’t have to turn it back on for a while. Whoohoo, 10 more days of sleeping late(r), cooking more and getting back to writing!!
