Funny, I developped shyness over the years… As a child I was bold and very confident. But I think I realized it was better to keep more information just for myself.
An “old” kid. By that I mean one of those children who preferred adult company to their peer group. Due to my being parented by people other than my biological parents for a while; my (apparently) gregarious and friendly nature as a young child changed to the reserved, ‘shy’ individual I was for the rest of my childhood and beyond.
Funny you say that… As a kid, I hung out with adults most of the time. So I used to be told I had and old soul. And now, I am all grown up, but have a very alive inner child. I like to think that’s the winning recipe 🙂 What do you think about it?
I was a little on the shy side due to stuttering and an abusive dad. There was one person I was close to where I never stuttered, but generally, I kept pretty quiet. I did a lot of observing of people and situations, didn’t get involved much in parties, sure as hell didn’t volunteer to talk much in school.
Stuttering never should have set you back… I feel for you. Hokey, you’ve become a virtual party animal. When you’re not there, it’s just not the same 😉 People could back me up on this… 😉

I was an ”old” kid too. Some people referred to me as an old soul, and I always (and I still do) relate more to older people, for some reason.

You should be asking, “What kind of kid ARE you?”

I was not shy at all. I was an only child and very adult or old for my age.
