She loved silence’s company.
Genuinely.
Or more precisely ”almost silence”. Spending her evenings lulled by the cracking of the flames in her fireplace. Standing outside all alone, in a park, enjoying the slow ballet of snowflakes falling on the tip of her boots.
She didn’t understand why most people feared silence like a plague. Always turning on a device to feed their ears with sounds, music and voices. Anxious to be left alone with themselves. Afraid of hearing their own thoughts, perhaps. Or that they wouldn’t have anything to tell their own self, maybe?
She didn’t have to worry about that. The voices in her head were never at a loss of words. They juggled, tossing thoughts around, exchanging, arguing, challenging each other in duels. Most of the time, they whispered, or at least spoke softly.
But when the brainstorm occasionally turned to an untaming uproar, she ran to the heart of the city to burry herself in the turmoil of the impatient drivers, and drunk pedestrians seeking every assaulting noise to quiet her turbulent mind.
Sitting in the middle of chaos, she just took a short break from thinking, while the silhouettes around her partied through the night.
Come to think of it, she probably wasn’t as different as she had first thought.
