Is there a geek in the room?

I need help, pretty pretty please!

I work on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet, and I have started to receive a pop up message telling me either “Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped” or that “Google Play services keep stopping”…

I checked on Google to find a way to solve this, but I don’t want to screw things up (and I know I could easily do that!)

I already went into “Google Service Framework” and cleared the cache. I read that I should try to clear the data also, but that scares me. I am not sure what that’ll clear exactlty, and I don’t want to end up missing things I can get back!!

Dang technology!

I’ll try to go and get professional help tomorrow, but I must admit that if one of you Lovelies could help me solve that from home, I wouldn’t be disappointed! And it would probaly spare people around me a few “fuck this!” and “fuck that!” (no… I didn’t start swearing, but since some people suspect that our thief-robot-site doesn’t like to “borrow” posts that include the F word, I might aswell try slipping one here and there, LOL)

  1. Have you tried deleting your history? It asks what you want to delete. I keep cookies and it will also pop up to show you what is being cleared. Occassionally when my laptop starts to lag I do that and it fixes the problem.

      1. It hasn’t worked for me, I suspect that there’s something wrong with my Google services altogether… I am tempted to completely swipe the thing, but I am scared to lose my pictures, videos and audio files… I’ll keep looking. Thanks again, Jay-lyn! xx

    1. Technically speaking, I couldn’t agree more… Geez, I swear, sometimes the Technology Gods are after me, and they might be ganging up with Murphy too. I hope I’ll get this fixed soon, because blogging is very difficult with the constant pop ups, and I don’t have access to everything I need, either 😦 😦 😦 I’ll figure something out, maybe 😛 *fingers crossed*

    1. Thank you for the information, Simon 🙂 I’ve been cleaning quite a lot of things this afternoon…. And I found out that all my pictures were getting saved on my tablet instead of my micro SD card. So I’m transferring stuff to give my tablet more free memory, maybe that’ll help…. *fingers crossed*

    1. I don’t consider “geek” to be a pejorative word…. I think geeks are usually cool people, and they know so much about stuff that my brain can’t process that I have to admire them 😉 I’m sure Jonathan won’t feel offended at all 😛

    1. LOL That is such a good idea!! Unfortunately, I all the neighbours I know are older than me, and don’t have teens… Dang! I too think that they would have figured that out in a minute, while checking their Instagram account and facetiming with friends 😛

  2. This is the tablet that I bought for my mom. Whenever something goes wrong, I reset the tablet for her and it works again. If you want some instructions of how to reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5HnUZY-RMs

It’s worth noting that if you have any photos on the tablet – you’re going to want to put those onto a computer or email them to yourself before you do a reset.

    1. Mouhahahahahahaah I’m the same! Each time I get a new device, I promise myself I’ll be really careful, make all the updates, file my stuff and keep everything in order… And I fail 😛 Once, (but that was a long time ago) I had an old computer that ended up actually catching on fire, and it was a cartoonish scene. I picked up the computer in flames and walked around the apartment, wondering what to do with it, to prevent burning the whole building. I finally put it in my bathtub, and waited, ready to turn the shower on if the fire didn’t stop LOL
