Tired smile
Sweet release
For her old heart
The longed for bliss
Last burning tear
On her wrinkled cheek
Ultimate harvest after
Being oh, so meek…
The years have come
And the years have gone
But true love, she knew
One just couldnโt shun.
Closing her eyes tight
Hand stretched towards him
Aware he was nowhere close
But knowing deep within
Hearing the angels
Calling softly her way
Ready at last
For this final journey
Assured that his steps
Closely followed her own
She spread her wings wide
And flew away just before dawn.
Taking with her
The words she had lived to hear
And left this world
With not the shadow of a fear.
The years have come
And the years have gone
But true love, she knew
One just couldnโt shun.
Catherine, this is very touching and sorrowful all at the same time. Great writing! ๐

Thank you, Darlene… I can’t think of a sweeter way to die, than receiving the love you longed for, to take with you on that last trip ๐
