When I was in college, my fraternity had an ball each spring. I’d wanted to ask this girl out forever, but never thought she’d go out with me. She was a senior and I was only a sophomore. Anyway, I went ahead and asked, and she said yes. So, the night of the ball, she looked amazing, but seemed distracted, and even a little sad. The date went off the rails early, we barely danced, very little conversation. I ended up taking her home early. Turns out, she’d found out she was pregnant about a week before our date, and ended up leaving school and moving home shortly after that. Haven’t seen her since.
Well, she sure had a good reason to be a downer that night! Quite a sad story, but on the other side, had it worked out, you might not have found Mrs Sonofa 😉
So, a person that I was an acquaintance of, wanted to hook me up with her friend. I was very apprehensive, and against better judgement, went on a lunch date on a Saturday. Let’s just say that there wasn’t any magic going on, and the conversation was strained. I had to get out of it, and after a quick bite to eat, I asked if it were alright to stop by the local pet store for fish food. (this is awful) Anyway, when I got in the store, I pretended that there was this really rare African Cichlid that I *had* to buy, which I did. Naturally, I *had* to get it home to put in my fish take immediately. That was the end of the date and her. There, my total confession. 😀
Oh my!! This is (by far) the most creative way I’ve heard of, to get out of a bad date… Did you really have fish to begin with? (Please say ”no” even if you did!! LOL)
Mind you, that this was contemporaneous with events outlined in my House Party post. So, in some respects, there were women that were available for dating, but I kept on entering the friend zone with them.
lol! Trust me, I was the guy that went shopping with the most beautiful ‘friend’ to help her pick out something for her to wear on her date. I *KNOW* the handshake. 😉
I think the most absolute worse date I was on, was when I was date raped. I had know the guy for a month, and at a party he did soemthing to my drink… Next thing I knew I woke up someehere entirely different. I’ll spare the rest of the other details.
I think you already win, and I am very sorry to say so, Beckie. This is absolutely horrible, and I hope that karma took care of the bastard!! I don’t know what to say… *huge hugs*
I don’t know if Karma did anything to the bastard. If it did, I wouldn’t know. Don’t even care.
It happened when I was 20.
There really isn’t anything you have to say. I was simply answering a quickie questions. That was the worse date ever.
xoxxoxo!
Jeeeez Beck…. I was trying to think of further trite answers to this question and then I read yours …. I feel bad now. So sorry to hear of such atrocities….
Go ahead and answer the question any way you see fit… It’s your experience.
Listen, this was something that happened to me over 33 years ago. When I read the question, it was the obvious answer for me.
Don’t feel bad at all… Please. I’m fine. Thank you, Dear.
The one where, after I dropped her off, her boyfriend (which I didn’t know she had because she never told me), along with two of his thug friends, beat the shit out of me.
When I was about 26 or so, I had a date with a guy I knew in high school. He had a big ol’ crush (back then). Imagine my astonishment when he showed up at my house, drunk and took me to a really nice restaurant/bar, but would only pay for drinks. He then proceeded to flirt with the waitress the entire time and told me in some detail how he’d like to ‘bag’ her and how beautiful he thought she was blah blah blah. I should have just left him drooling at that bar and gone home in a taxi, but in those days I was a ‘let’s make the best of the situation’ girl, and he took me home where he tried (in vain) to ‘get some’. I saw an old movie or sit com recently (can’t recall which or what the name of that was) and a woman on the show said “he was hung like a hummingbird’. Well yeah. My Lothario probably got laughed at a lot in the locker room. Later my father, who knew the man, sought him out and literally kicked his ass. Said “you won’t treat my daughter like THAT” (of course Pop had only heard the G rated version and how Lothario had hit on the waitress and driven drunk). Oddly Lothario straighted his stuff out after that and became a sober and industrious fellow. I guess sometimes it takes a kick in the ass …
Oh wow… That’s a harsh one!! Wow! I salute your perseverence to try to make it work out in ”some” way. 😛
I don’t want to look like an eternal optimistic, but I find it kind of reassuring that a kick in the *ss can change some of these dumbasses…. I would have thought they were lost causes 😛
I wasn’t considered a ‘pretty’ woman, and I got used to that type of stuff happening. That’s perhaps one main reason I married my hubby, he never looked sideways. And I knew I had his attention all the time we were together.
Ummm I had a few bad ones. Not as bad as the ones above.
I went out with a rich old man once. He must be in his 50-60s? And I was in my 40s?
He took me to a fancy restaurant pried me with alcohol. Made indecent proposals like taking me around the world etc etc.
I don’t drink and I knew what he was up to so he ended up drinking it all 😊
In the end I left him staggering to his hotel room. He groped and tried to kiss me next to my car. It was awful.
Anyhow lesson learnt. They can be rich yet no class whatsoever lol

I don’t think I have ever been on a bad date.
However if you were to ask the other side, they might say something different
