Lying to me. Once someone has lied tome, that trust is broken and without trust, no relationship, whether it be a love relationship, work, friendship or another type, can survive without trust.
This doesn’t come as a surprise! And I think it is very understandable… If for any reason, she sincerely appologized and changed her way, would you consider giving her a chance to prove herself?
That wuld have to be one hell of an apology. But, I know the Troll very well, she has never apologized to the people she has trampled over (EVER), this is why she has such few friends and family members left in her world. Heck, even her daughter wants to move away when she turns 18. Since the age of 3, my niece has referred to her as the “Bear” – Need I say anymore? LOL!
I think it says it all!! LOL Wow, I really shouldn’t laugh… It is pretty sad, when you think about it. How self centered must one be, to drive everybody away from themselve, and not admit that they are the problem! 😐
LOL! Nah, I don’t feel the need to make others miserable. I may be an introvert, but I believe in trying to set a good example and be kind to all! (At least the ones that deserve it). LOL!!!🤗
I’m with you… Lying just makes you reconsider everything that person has told you in the past, and everything they could say from that moment on… And without trust, it is hard to keep a relationship going.
Got that right. Only happened to me once, but I watched it happen to my parents, and a very close friend about 2 years ago. The thought of reconciliation after such is I fathomable to me.
I wasn’t happy about it, especially considering I found out on my own. Accidentally, of course. Now, we weren’t married or anything, just some girl I’d been dating. But, the tie was summarily severed, and I never ever spoke to her again. It’s a bit more complicated if married, but not sure I’d ever be able to reconcile that if my wife ever did it. Outside of dealings with our kids, she’d be ghosted.
People not being punctual and then giving all kinds of lame excuses. If you are supposed to be here at 2, then you should be here by 1.55. I’ll wait till 2. But it starts to get on my nerves as soon as it gets 2.01. 😂😂
You sound like my husband. He insisted we show up at parties on the dot. Of course no one else was there, awkward. I tried to make him wait in the car till some others arrive, but he wouldn’t. Hardly any hostess is ready completely on the dot! : )
Hahaha… Actually that’s the trend with parties and wedding in India also. So, I act cool when I’m a guest. But if I’m hosting I’m on time. I have made some of my friends punctual.
I remember once I left a friend at the metro station because he was waiting for someone who wasn’t on time. 😂😂
It is funny how, in general, the importance of being punctual is something cultural. In some countries, it is very valued, but in others, it doesn’t matter at all… When I lived in Guinea, taking an appointment was a blurry concept, merely an agreement between two people who wanted to meet. Timing was not an issue 😛 Here, in Canada, people give it a lot more importance, and I make sure to always be on time, but I sometimes miss the coolest African point of view 😛
Haha… Yeah… People in India will tell you that they’d reach in 2 Mins and make you wait for 2 hours! I hope that didn’t happen in Guinea as timing wasn’t an issue there 😂
See if you don’t have a busy life, then meeting being taken as merely an agreement is fine. But if you have a bust schedule and people don’t value your time, that’s not done.
Today I was checking the punch in time at my office for the last week. When I realised I got pretty late to punch my card one day despite being there before time (due to parking issues), I was really annoyed. Even though the bosses come in late, I don’t feel like being pointed out for something that’s not my fault.
I am so aware of the weaknesses and imperfections humans are ingrained with. The crime I was victim of – something of that nature – I don’t think a victim should have to forgive the perpetrator. I don’t think about him at all.
Someone who does something over a long course of time and shows no remorse or effort to change is hard to forgive I guess. I don’t find it hard to forgive someone who had a moment of weakness and then comes to you in obvious agony because they feel terrible about what they have done.
Oh that’s a good one, Barb! I don’t understand people who can hurt animals… I read somewhere, that ”One should be scared of a man who doesn’t like animals.”
There is absolutely nothing that I will not forgive. I don’t say that to sound like Jesus Christ, for nothing could be further from the truth.
I forgive everything. It is not an act of generosity but one, rather, of selfishness. I feels so much better to bear no malice. Carrying a grudge is a heavier burden than carrying guilt …. believe me, for I have felt the weight of both.
Very true, Brutus. Holding grudges is like drinking poison hoping the other one dies. I don’t believe in revenge, but I sometime still have trouble forgiving completely. I guess it’s a ”work in progress” thing for me 🙂
Betrayal.

I agree that it is something hard to forgive and forget… If someone can betray you once, nothing will ever guarantee they won’t do it again!

I agree… After getting lied to once, there is no way to know for sure that the person won’t do it again.

Lying, it causes mistrust, so you never know from then on what the truth is.

Cheating. I’d say lying, but that’s jusg one of the components of cheating.

Yeah, both are closely related. Anything that breaks trust is a real issue in a relationship.

I really don’t know how I’d react, but it sure would be incredibly difficult to completely forgive!

I like the point you are bringing here… I too forgive more easily a one-time mistake, that the person regrets having done.
People who do bad things over and over without any sense of guilt are much harder to forgive…
I am glad for you, that you have a very forgiving heart… Holding grudges it a heavy burden to live with 😦

One thing I can’t forgive is when someone treat a child like crap and expect to be forgiven, like it’s never happened twenty-some years down the road.
