Cyranny’s Jukebox…

Working over the phone, I spend a lot of time on ”hold” every week. That means listening to a lot of music while getting paid.

Today, I got lucky when a customer asked that I would wait for him, and left me hanging for about ten minutes (it always amazes me when people call in for technical support, obviously wanting their problems solved quickly, and complain that they don’t have the time to test a couple of things…).

This is what was playing;

Instantly I went back to being thirteen, and spending all my after school time with my two best friends in one of our rooms, door duly locked. After putting the tape in the radio cassette, we sat together for hours, sharing teenager secrets and giggling while discussing our latest crush.

I didn’t understand English very well back then. But it didn’t matter, because we didn’t really have time to listen closely anyway. I can’t believe how much talking took place in these bedrooms. We never seemed to run out of topics, and we laughed and we cried.

The song ended, but the memory lingered a little, while I waited for my customer to pick up the phone again…

Do you also have songs that revive vivid souvenirs from a distant past?

  1. Hiya, Sis!

    Funny … this song just popped up on YouTube the other day when I was rambling down memory lane by listening to music from the 80s and 90s. It was one of my favorite songs of theirs.

    Thanks for the memory of the memory!

    1. You’re very welcome, dear Bro 🙂 The 80s and 90s were such gem musical decades! I too get lost in the YouTube corridors when I start looking for songs from my younger years 😉 The good ol’ time, when we bought albums that were worth listening from the beginning of side A, to the end of side B 😛

      1. Omg yes! I remember running home with whatever album I’d just bought and lovingly putting it on the turntable. Then I’d crank it up and listen to it on my pair of giant speakers while I read the liner notes. Life was so much better back then in some ways.

  2. I love songs that bring back fun times and fond memories. Usually, I find the ’80’s hits do it for me. I’m either back in High School, or dating my future husband. He use to be a DJ, so we always went clubbing or he was mixing it up in our basement DJ booth. Great times!!! 😎 😍

    1. Aww that’s cool Beckie 🙂 Most of my flash backs occur while listening to 90s music. And it always surprises me how very vividly memories are connected to some songs! It is almost like using a time machine…

  3. Oh yes, do I ever! The song Take Me Home by Phil Collins reminds me of growing up in New York City, and the memories of friends and family spending hours at a time back at the house where I was born. I’ll be visiting the old place this week; I haven’t been there in twenty years.

    It is amazing how many songs there are that can transport me back in time. I love it! You can remember where you were, who you were with and what you were doing when a certain song was playing. Our minds are so amazing!

    1. I agree, and I am so glad I could bring you with me along Memory Lane, dear Joy 🙂 I have many souvenirs related to Wilson Phillips too. Their harmonies have witnessed some of my fondest memorie…
