Meeting Frank…

.

This afternoon, Chéri and I went to the movies.

On our way back home, we came across what seemed like a homeless man, in the subway station close to our home. I don’t like to assume facts, so I kneeled down and adressed the man lying on the floor.

Hi, are you homeless? – I asked.

Yes, I’m homeless and a drug addict. – he replied.

I felt sorry. There was no need for him to specify that he had an addiction to drugs. It felt like he was puting himself down, as if he was saying ”I’m worthless, nevermind me!”. I begged to disagree with that.

What’s your name?I asked.

Frank” – Fake name, obviously.

Frank, nice to meet you” – I said. ”I’m Cyranny, and I always carry some gift cards and I’d like you to have one.”

I offered two choices, both from major fast food restaurants found everywhere in the Montréal area. Frank made his choice, and accepted the gift card with a little smile.

Take care care, Frank… Your life matters!” – I last said.

Frank smiled, and I wish I had more time to chat with him… But that was the time we had together, I hope my 15$ will make a change in his life.

I so wish for 2024 that people will see that the homeless are just humans too!
