Today I am testing my new walking shoes… Wanna come with me and stroll around Montréal a bit?
I admit my neighbouhood isn’t the most exciting, but it doesn’t mean the walk will be dull.
We can take all the backstreets, with their tiny fenced backyards and their stray cats passing by… We can visit the ice cream store just a few street corners away, I heard they were opening for the summer today! Or maybe stop by the small market and pick up a few knick knacks to fix ourself a meal after we’re done walking…
We could go to the park… Go to the parks… There are so many of them in this area. I like to sit on a random bench and listen to the kids playing. I’d like to tell them to enjoy life while it is simple, but it is useless… They just do anyway.
I could show you the nearest church. I like churches, although I am not a go-to-church girl. My faith doesn’t require bricks and stones, but I always feel a deep respect for church builders when I enter one…
The weather is perfect today. Sunny, warm and it smells of early spring. All kinds of birds are singing in the neighbouhood’s old trees. Life is coming back to the city, flowers are preparing to bloom and buds are appearing on tree branches.
We can walk for hours, I have to break my shoes, and I doubt we’ll run out of stories… If we ever do, we can always walk in silence, and just enjoy each other’s company!
The church’s bells are ringing, can you hear them? Inviting us to get out and get lost for a while…
So, what do you say?
I’ll wait for you on the corner of the street, by the bus stop.
If you join me, I’ll make sure to fix us feet baths when we get back. And we can laugh about our soar feet while the chili simmers on the stove.
Update:
I waited for a while by the bus stop…

I don’t know if you didn’t get the chance to meet me, or if you just didn’t want to.
I went walking anyway, and I brought you souvenirs, hoping you’ll like them.

Bixis are out… It is officially spring!
My closest convenience store, our neighbourhood mini-market and the ice cream shop… I knew they’d be open!!
The fire station
The neighborhood church… (Yeah, I like to live dangerously!)

And back to my backstreet.
