My brother gave me syphilis…

« My brother gave me syphilis! »

I love saying that phrase out loud. In crowds. The more people around me, and the nosier their ears are (nosy ears, that’s funny), the better. I love the looks and frowns it provokes. I love the barely hidden disgust on people’s faces at the thought of such open incest stories.

“Oh did he?”

Yeah, all my friends know about my syphilis, and they tag along when I decide to bring it up in a subway wagon or at the movies… Even my brother enjoys recalling his forever after entertaining gift… Such a nice attention, from a little brother to his big sister!

“Remember when you gave me syphilis?”

“How could I forget!”

Last year I asked for Ebola. It was a little harder to find, I admit I was being picky. Some people might think my interest in infectious diseases rhymes with bad taste, but I disagree. Ebola, would probably have provoked more intense reactions, being so viral… But I truly wanted it because of all the attention it brought on Guinea lately. It made me miss that part of the world.

But I will have to wait… with just my syphilis…

  1. Oh my….infectious disease! No way would I have ever thought you could give (or receive, haha) toys like that. It brings to mind an incident at a bakery that I used to work at. One of the items was a crab-stuffed rolls. It was a busy morning and I was out front with the customers. The crab rolls sold out fast, and we kept calling back to the baker if there were more in the oven. Well, wouldn’t you know, when they finally came out of the oven, the baker called out at the top of her lungs: I GOT CRABS!!!!! As you can imagine, everyone out front simply froze. The looks on the faces of the customers – priceless. No one said anything for a few seconds, and so the baker thought we didn’t hear her, and yelled out again I GOT CRABS!!! I GOT CRABS!!!

Just thinking about that day always makes my gut hurt from laughing so much.
