Marzipan or poetry?

Tough choice today…

There are 2 choices on my « international day » website, and I have trouble choosing between “International Marzipan Day” and “International Poetry At Work Day”. I kind of like both ideas…

Marzipan, for those who never tried it, is a more or less compact paste made from grounded almonds, sugar and egg white. In French “Massepain” or more commonly “pâte d’amande” in Québec, Marzipan reminds me of Pippa, who really likes it. It is one of the very few sweets I can’t resist either. As a young teenager, I would buy big rolls of it and eat it nature, straight from the wrapping. Why bake it into something more complicated when you can enjoy it right away??

Poetry at work really tempts me too… Especially since I am at work, and I don’t have marzipan with me. Poetry is always a possibility.

So I’ll leave marzipan celebrations to you lucky people who have access to the almond delight, and I’ll give a shot at option B. I haven’t written poetry in a long while, so please be kind.

 

Souffle le vent, sur mes joues rougies

Mes bottes enfoncées dans la neige glaciale

Frappe-moi de plein fouet et tue la magie

Des hivers envoyés sur les cartes postales

 

Souffle le vent, sur mes joues rougies

Je ne rentrerai pas pour te donner raison

Frappe plus fort, je ne crains pas ta furie

Tu aimerais trop que je cours à la maison.

 

Souffle vent du Nord, souffle tant que tu peux,

Je sais que tu ne pourras pas souffler à jamais

Gèle mes doigts et fais-moi fermer les yeux,

Essaie de me faire céder juste une fois, essaie

 

Voilà!
