I have had lots of conversations with complete strangers. It is a wonderful thing to do. People have told me extraordinary things about themselves. I have met people who have told me about their eventful careers, memorable relationships, momentous experiences.
The man I will always remember is the man from Liberia who I met in a refugee camp just outside Accra. Exceptional man. Remarkable courage and heart full of hope despite horrendous challenges. Conversations with strangers – this is something that can change your outlook on life.
A few weeks ago at the bar I do karaoke at a lady came up to my partner and I and said “I’m so glad you made it back this week – you both sing very well.”
That was weird, because I have to wonder if she’s had her ears checked recently. My partner has the pipes. I *SUCK*, I just do it because it’s fun lol.
The strangest conversation I ever had with a stranger occurred in the grocery store, of all places.It happened a few years ago. I was minding my own business when a young man walked up to me and said, “Can I tell you a secret? You are one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in my life.” The guy appeared to be perfectly normal and sane — not crazy, not creepy, which is what I would have expected of anyone who said something like that to a random old lady in a grocery store. I was so stunned that it took me a moment to remember my manners and thank him. He said, “I really mean it,” and he turned and walked away. I had never seen him before and I have never seen him since.
My strangest conversion was with the girl who was going to do the deed in the blow-job movie I did. Trying to find small talk before and especially after was a bit weird
