I’m the oddball in the corner without a phone. I have the thing in my purse, turned off (respectfully because many doctor’s offices – where I do most of my waiting) request that people do that. Of course it gets ignored. I bring a hard copy puzzle book and work on Crostics or Cryptograms. The time goes fairly quickly too.
If I knew I was going to be waiting, I would take a book, make sure I had a bottle of water, and maybe a snack. But last time I had to go to a waiting room, I only had the water bottle. So I counted. I was finding the waiting hard, so I started to count and work out maths equations in my head.
I’m like you, when I know I’ll be waiting… When I’m caught off guard, I rely on watching other people waiting, and my cell phone, hoping I have enough charge for the wait 😉
Like everyone else, I play on my phone. Before cell phones, we were relegated to whatever old magazines they had in the waiting room.

I always bring something to read if I know I’m going to have to wait.

Intelligent phones are life savers, when the waiting room is empty of interesting people, right? 😉

I catch up on reading blogs and if I’m done, then I’d turn to the Kindle app, there’s always something there.

I have a similar bookreader, but I never got used to it. I just like ”real” books too much 😛

Me too… If I know I’ll have to wait. Otherwise, I rely on my cell phone most of the times.
