I think it was the shock of how much it cost even back then.
Partner takes Monkey to the cinema as I stand there and moan about how much the popcorn is, the nachos, the tickets, the people. I just really really dislike it
Oh it’s been a long while. I went to see “The Dark Tower” in our local ‘cheepies’ theatre (which means the film was on it’s last legs…they go to that theater to die I think). That film was released in July of 2017, probably hit Utah in October or November (we’re behind the bigger metroplis showings up here) and I saw it possibly sometime in December of 2017. It was awful and I hope, if they were planning any kind of sequel, that it died due to poor box office performance. The actors were good ones (although I’d never heard of them), but the hero in Stephen King’s book was a white guy, and they cast a black fellow as that character. Good actor, but miscast. They also lumped all eight (nine?) books into one film. Um. That series came out over a period of about 25 years, it deserved better. I’d say avoid the film. Period. Read the books. Just plan for a LOT of time to do so….it’s King at his finest (without so much of the gore, but more of the science fiction) and is a warning against what we’re doing to our planet besides. Great series/crappy film.
I think the same applies to most of Stephen King’s work brought to the big screen… I never understood how people could take such great books and bring them down to merely ordinary movies or series.
I like these discount movie theaters… I don’t mind waiting to see a movie, unless Mads Mikkelsen stars in it LOL I also like small theaters that present foreign movies. They are usually cheaper than the big theaters, because a lot of people don’t like to watch movies with subtitles… I looove it!
Some time last year when I went to the cinema with Goldfinch. I can’t remember what the movie was called, but it had Sandra Bullock in I think. I only remember being with Goldfinch.
