“Some people need a booze, crave a joint or would kill for cocaine…
You played the pusher, then left me high and dry, begging for your oxytocin!”
I always refused to to get high with friends… Always turned my back on anything that could turn me into a slave. I was convinced that the power of free will would always be sweeter than being stonned on anything. Yet here I am now, weeping in the dark. My body shaken with tremors, heart racing, my throat burning with every breath, sweating bullets while I adjust back to the lack of happiness… I should have known, that the most innocent thrills are also the riskiest. But getting hooked on glee was so pleasurable! Drinking bliss from your cup… Sniffing joy off the back of your hand… Rapture flowing in my veins… Some people need a booze, crave for a joint or would kill for cocaine… You played the pusher, then left me high and dry, begging for your oxytocin!
This is some sort of an homage to Sarah Doughty, whose work I’ve admired since I first came across her blog. To find out about her beautiful micro poetry and storytelling, please take a moment to visit her site, Heartstring Eulogies.
Wow! Great job!
