I doubt I ever used OMG so many times in my life over a period of a week or so…
If you read my first few posts, you know that I have been searching for a Danish teacher for ever! I had made my peace with having to learn by myself with the from-the-other-side-of-the-ocean help from my Danish friend.
One week ago, I thought I’d try one last thing… It would fail, but I would have tried. I wrote to the Language department of 4 Montreal Universities, to ask if by ANY chance, they had a Danish student willing to make a few bucks laughing at my horrible accent.
University #1: answer……. NO!
University #2: answer……………NO!
University #3: ansert…………………………….NO!
I wasn’t even waiting for the last answer, but it still ended in my virtual mailbox the next day. I hesitated before opening the note, knowing I was about to put an end to my research for any person willing to teach me… I was going to be forced to move to Denmark to see Danes!! I would have to migrate… At that moment my finger slipped and I clicked as I was unprepared….
No “NO!” in view…. That was suspicious… A lady was almost appologizing for not being able to help me. She was referring me to another lady that perhaps could. Ah-Ah! I had the email adress of the mean lady that would finally kill my dream. Might as well end it all now… So I wrote to her.
The next day (at least they weren’t going to make me suffer the wait) Lady #2 was writting back to tell me she would check, but couldn’t promise anything… And a little later in the evening…
* You’ve got mail *
I still have goosebumps… I found a Dane in Montréal! I really did!
