It is a party where every guest brings a different dish, siding or dessert, to create a whole buffet. But sometimes, some people bring weird or disappointing stuff LOL
I have been to lots of gatherings where everyone brought their own dish. I don’t think I have every been disappointed with the variety and international flavour. The only disappointment is shop-bought food. It is rare though, most people bring something they made themselves.
When I was nine or ten, we had a class party and every parent was supposed to send a dish for the pot luck lunch. Every parent sent a cake. Teacher was mad. Kids were happy and bouncing off the walls.
Glad to read you, Amanda! Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to you too! I hope you are still enjoying your home away from the city 🙂 (funny, I actually was looking at the pictures we took in Brisbane tonight 😉 ) *Big hugs*
There is some sort of synchrony happening if you were looking at your Brisbane photos as I wrote this! Big hugs back at you! I am definitely still enjoying my home by the sea! You are welcome to visit anytime.
Synchrony at its best 😉 And I must say, after our 2020 stay, Aussiland is in our top 5 travel plans, in a reasonable future… So Chéri and I might accept your offer sooner than later 😛
I don’t recall seeing anything truly weird at a potluck. At most potlucks everyone brings their most popular dish — the one everyone wants the recipe for. I’m an adequate cook, although I’d never describe myself as an excellent one, but when I go to a potluck I always take something that is a tried and true hit. If at the end of the party I take home an empty dish, I feel as though I hit a home run.
What is a potluck party?
