Not very. There’s no reason for it to be. I look the way I look. Wrestling with my hair and frying it every day, or spending hours trying to put the perfect wing tip on eyeliner when i can’t draw a straight line normally is just frustrating. Why fight nature? It’s like trying to take a blow torch to a few snow flakes.
There are some times that I feel the need to make sure I’m on-point. A black-tie affair, for example. No way in hell I’m going to show up looking like Side-Show Bob, that’s my regular M-F look!
Basically, be happy with what you got, because it’s fleeting and in ten years, you’re going to wish you didn’t bend, twist, flat iron, slather in foundation, what you already have. In 10 years you’re going to think back and think “I had beautiful skin, why did I spend 9 hours a day covering it and contouring it and hating it?” and wish that the teeny crows feet you were desperately trying to cover then were back because now you could park a car between the wrinkles.
I do care about how I look and try to dress appropriately. My hair is not a big deal with me and I wear little to no makeup. I guess I have always been confident about my appearance and do not feel it is necessary to obsess about it.
