    1. I don’t really have any interest in them either… I admire the athletes that make it that far, but I don’t feel compelled to watch them competing. I am just glad that we now have about a million channels on TV, meaning that I can watch something else, unlike when I was a child, and the Olympics were all that was playing for two whole weeks πŸ˜›

  1. This is a touchy subject for me. My whole life, the only sports I watch are the Olympics. When I was a kid I would set the VHS player to record (yes I could do that), and I would watch when I got home and set it to record the next day so I’d never miss a moment. When tech grew up, I would set my DVR to record. I never missed a second, unless I purposely fast-forwarded because I wasn’t interested in that particular sport. Summer and winter Olympics. Because of what has recently transpired, I no longer have a television or a way to record. This is the first Olympics that I am missing in my life. Sometimes “new life” just makes you want your old life.

    1. Ohhh… That’s really sad. I don’t know much about your current situation, but I am sorry that you have to do without your tradition this year. I would gladly grant you my access to all the Olympics’ channels… *Big hugs*

      1. My current situation involves no TV and a hotspot on my phone. Broke doesn’t begin to cover it. But that gives me a goal. By winter olympics I hope to have both a tv and tv channels that I can fast forward through commercials on!

      2. My best thoughts are with you… I really hope you will achieve your goal! With a good attitude, I have very little doubt that you will πŸ™‚ xx

      3. Hey, I can forgo (miserably) the gymnastics. But Ice Dancing? My eyes will be attached to a tv if I have to travel back in time to stand outside of a tv store and watch it through the window!

      4. You have one year ahead of you (unless covid-19 has other super nasty variants to keep us walking on eggshells by then), and if by then, you still can’t afford a tv, let me know, we’ll find a way to get you to watch your favorite competitions πŸ˜‰

      5. Thank you! That’s so sweet! By then I hope to have become the recipient of a kind gift from an unknown donor in the amount of “Oh, you can buy Amazon now!” πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

  2. I was about to say “zero”, but I have just arrived back from work and turned on the news….and what am I watching? Highlights of the events in the Olympics so far. So there we have it, I don’t feel interested, but I am still watching clips from the games so far.

    1. Hahahahaha I guess that we just can’t escape Olympic Games alltogether, right? Then again, it is a worldwide competition, so it only seems fair that every news bulletin would talk about it πŸ˜‰

      1. I like sport (more taking part than watching) but I would probably have an interest in swimming, diving and perhaps some of the athletics events. What I really really don’t like is the glorification of the winners and sticking them up on a podium and playing the national anthem. I also feel sorry for those who have trained for years and ended up in tears and feel like a disappointment. It’s too much for me. I much prefer our family fun sports days.

  3. I love the Olympics. I was up at 5am this morning to watch live streaming of my sport Dressage. Tomorrow it will be 4:30am. I could sleep in and see it later on replay but that is not as much fun. There is a Canadian rider going at 4:54 am and I want to see her “live”. Also I will post on my blog about the riders and their results.

    1. I have followed your posts about the Canadian equestrian team, and I must say, it probably is the only category category I would have followed, if I had known when the competitions took place. I am relying on you to know how well they did πŸ˜‰

      1. The thing is that Dressage is the only discipline that qualified to send a Team. The Eventers have just one rider as an Individual and the Jumpers only one as well. The Jumpers had a Team qualification from The Pan Ams in Lima in 2018 but one rider on that team tested positive for a banned substance. She had drunk coca tea and said she didn’t know it was basically cocaine. (don’t get me started on that )So they lost their team qualification. The rider who would have been the best qualified person to go for the jumpers as an individual is Eric Lamaze but he had been struggling with cancer and made the decision not to go. So Mario Deslaurier is going and he is an experienced rider and will do his best. The Dressage team came in 11th place of the teams after the Grand Prix and only the top 8 Teams can go on to the Grand Prix Special so for the Canadian riders that will be it now and they will come home. This is the Olympic debut for all three riders so there is good hope for the future in Canadian Dressage.

  4. There are some sports that are enjoyable to watch, but are not widely covered throughout the year, so it’s a good chance to see them. My only peeve is that in some sports (mostly the team events) Winning the gold and bronze are achievements, but you have to lose to get a silver medal.
